Daylight Running Lights
A bulb/LED has gone on one of the DRLs on my Peugeot Boxer (2014 Broadway). I have checked my manual but it doesn't mention DRLs at all. I've googled, checked forums and Youtube'd but can't find out if I can replace the single bulb or if I have to replace the whole thing! Has anyone on here had this happen to them or know the answer? If not I will contact Autosleeper. Thankyou.

Re: Daylight Running Lights
Hi bazjaq, Discovered same problem last September where of the five LEDs each side two had stopped working. From a fellow forum member, it might have been caused by lack of ventilation in the pods especially due to the very hot weather (you recall last July, August). I emailed a chap named Helfin www.helfin@ledcom.co.UK who suggested a ?? lose connection and to wiggle both wiring looms from the module along to the back of the lights. For a start, I couldn't locate this module as the loom from the lights disappeared somewhere into the depths of the engine. On further inspection, was able to gain access to each of the pods to remove each light assembly and surprised to find lots of rusty fittings, a right botched repair to my mind. Had to remove sump guard to get to off side pod. All I could do on the day was to clean off the rust as best possible and check connections where possible along the looms and back of each led component (individual bulbs not accessible). Not surprised to find my efforts where not successful. However, was surprised and very pleased that several days later they were all working and continue to this day.
If you wish, I can PM you my tel no. for further info.
Regards

Re: Daylight Running Lights
I have the same issue with two failed on one side. But have decided not to replace the cluster unless more fail.
The good news is that DRL lights are not a MOT issue on our age vans, but is on vans registered March 1st 2018 onwards.

That is my Factsheet. I am very happy with the Osrams that I fitted.

Re: Daylight Running Lights
Thanks for the answers gents. I didn't know that the DRLs are not part of the MOT, great! I've read the link from Bainzie, way beyond my abilities I'm afraid. So the first thing I'll do when weather brightens will be to do what Paramedic did, hopefully it will work!

Re: Daylight Running Lights
On my Symbol ...... 5 LED each side.
When I start up all five light up, then reduces to just two.
If I switch on headlamp they all go out.
Obviously, when I am driving I have no idea what is happening or whether this is consistent.
Any input as to what is suppose to happen when?
Many thanks in advance.

Re: Daylight Running Lights
My understanding is that the 5 > 2 is a fault with the power supply and/or LED modules, and that it's correct that they should go out with the headlights on - typically they are too bright to be used after dark (the headlights are obviously brighter, but are more accurately aimed as a beam).birdtrek wrote:On my Symbol ...... 5 LED each side.

Thanks for information. I had the 5 > 2 before under warranty but the mechanic refused to let me in workshop or tell me what he had done to fix it.
Where would I find the power supply and is there any way to check it?
Thanks.

Re: Daylight Running Lights
Richard will probably know this better than me, but in all of the (non-A/S) cases that I've looked at, the power supply is integral within the DRL module itself. It's probably not designed to be taken apart and repaired - simply replaced as a unit.

Changing the module seems an easy fix. Any idea where it is?

Re: Daylight Running Lights
Sorry, by "DRL module" I mean the DRL itself! I would expect the assembly to have the power controller built onto the back, but only by analogy with ones that I have looked at on other vehicles - I don't have direct experience of the ones on your vehicle (hence my hope that Richard would know more).

Re: Daylight Running Lights
Two or three years ago Mark told me that replacement modules are not a available - hence the replacement detailed in my Factsheet. In any event I contend that the LEDs fail because of overheating - no heatsinks!
