Wet Locker weight limits.
For the last four years we have loaded the wet locker in our Worcester with all the normal cables, tools, hoses etc etc, something we all do. Looked at the floor today and whilst not at all serious with no obvious damage it certainly isn't the same flat floor that it came with! Got me thinking how much weight can these outside lockers really take and has anyone ever thought of reinforcing the floor "just in case"?

Re: Wet Locker weight limits.
We had problems from new with the wet locker leaking. AS fitted a supporting strut underneath which had the effect of lifting the locker slightly and making sure the rubber seals mated properly. We have not had water ingress since.
We don't put much weight in there normally but I assume the strut does give some measure of support in case we did overload it.

From my van weight checklist:
Pair of Levelling Ramps 2kg
Spare shorter EHU cable 1.5kg
Tool Bag 4kg
Drill and batteries bag 3kg
Full EHU cable 3kg

Will do John, when I can. We keep the van some way from home and have a busy week coming up.

Thanks for that Chris, I've also promised to photograph my drinks holder for another member but I also have been very busy this last few days.Quilter wrote:Will do John, when I can. We keep the van some way from home and have a busy week coming up.

Re: Wet Locker weight limits.
I am thinking of maybe reinforcing the locker floor with some sort of aluminium mesh.... and relocating some of the really heavy things to under one of the bench seats.... prevention being better than cure. Tons of it cheap on the internet but like to find a local stockist or something usable instead??

Re: Wet Locker weight limits.
I would take the view that the locker needs stiffening as much as strengthening. For this the aluminium "J" section from auto-sleepers seems to me more suitable. I think that I would go for a deeper "U" section as it would be even stiffer but the "J" seems fine. I try to keep the contents low density to avoid concentrating stress in one place, so no tools etc. but levelling blocks and hoses. I am not sure what the fixings they used are.
