Help - water leak !
Hi everyone.
I was just filling our water tank for the first time this year in readiness for a couple of days away and have realised that we have a leak.
While bleeding the system of air I suddenly heard a dripping sound from behind the washroom wall, near to the shower tap. I turned off the pump and drained the water heater again and the dripping stopped.
Although I drained the system down as per instructions and we haven't really had much in the way of freezing temperatures, I can only assume that there must be some frost damage, or maybe a plumbing fitting has perished.
It is a 2003 Symbol and the only way I can see to gain access to the back of the shower tap is to remove the entire wall section, which itself may involve removal of the window
Has anyone had to do a similar repair ? Your experience would be very useful !!
Thanks
Carver

You can gain access to the wash basin plumbing by removing the back panel which is a fairly straight-forward job. This of course does not help you reach the shower taps but as a temporary measure you should be able to isolate the pipes going to the shower, even removing the shower pipes and blanking off the connectors.

Thanks Paul.
Good idea to isolate the shower plumbing. At least we could use the van as we rarely use the onboard shower.
This will give me time to build up the courage to remove the washroom wall.
Thanks again

Thanks for the replies.
Having spoken to AS regarding the best way of accessing the rear of the shower controls, their opinion was to go in via the wardrobe back panel.
After removing the internals of the wardrobe it is indeed possible to access the pipes, albeit with one hand.
The culprit was a push fit type connector.
I changed both hot and cold fittings to be safe and reassembled. .
For those with similar vans (Symbol / Harmony / Duetto) another possible access route could be via the washroom window surround that once removed would allow access to the void between the washroom panel and the side of the van.
Thanks to PeugeotBoxer for that idea.
