water leak
Hi ,
has any one out there in autosleeper land got any suggestions as to where a autosleeper sleeper symbol (2000) boxer base lets in water,as i have noticed a wet patch right along the rear lower panel above the rear doors, and one next the the seatbelt trim behind the drivers seat.
for the love of god i cannot find how the water is getting in.
if anyone can throw some light on this i would much appreciate it.
thanking you in advance.

Re: water leak
Hi there,
First of all, is it "getting in" or is it already "in there"?
If the pump starts occasionally when all the taps are shut off (and not dripping) then I would suspect a leak in the water system.
If this isn't happening (and you haven't let an overenthusiastic person loose with a pressure hose) then ....
.... almost any of the topside seals could be letting water in if they have failed and
.... finding the source will be difficult and
.... when you finally find where the water is getting in it will probably take only minutes and pennies to fix! (That's the good news!!)
Hope this helps.
Best regards,

Re: water leak
Check your high windows, if like the Topaz are prone to leaks due to the slopping top, so a fitter told me.

Re: water leak
Try putting talculm powder onto the rubber door seals then closing doors and playing a hose around the edge. If the seals are leaking you will see where the talc gets washed away - an old trick that those of us who also have classic cars use a lot!

Re: water leak
My 1995 Harmony has started letting-in water where the roof joins the van body. I think it's mainly getting in above the windscreen where the seal has shrunk and the mastic is getting a bit long in the tooth. 60mph into heavy rain (Scotland in other words) normally induces this problem.
The water tends to drip onto the passenger's knee, but I don't doubt that it's travelling elsewhere too. Books in the cupboard above the rear door are also getting a bit damp from time to time. In short after twenty years it needs a bit of TLC and I intend to remove all the trims and remake the van to roof seal with Sikaflex.
