"bent" back rest used to make up bed
Only after I bought our motorhome did I discover one of the long seat cushion backrests (guessing about 6ft x 12" x 8") used to make up the bed, is bent banana shaped, not too badly but enough to notice and not lie flat on the pull - out struts used to support it.
I can only suppose it wasn't set up properly and a heavyweight sleeper slept on it and deformed it.
Question is how can I straighten it out so it become flat once again?
Or do I have to take it apart and get an upholsterer to refit it a new piece of wood?

Use it upside down for a while.

yes thanks I did try that but the thick cushioning inside is a problem as it doesn't provide a solid base,so it just "pings" back into banana shape afterwards. Also you can't put it upside down on the struts as it doesn't provide a safe support to sleep on and even if didn't it would mean trying to sleep on a solid wood mattress. Basically I need 2 strong ASOC members to hold an end each and then get another dietary challenged member to stand on it in the middle for a while (and hope it doesn't snap in the middle) - any volounteers?

Hi,
Try two chairs and a heavy weight but if the wooden base is warped I think the upholsterer may be the way to go, you could always ask autosleepers advice,

On our Windsor (when new) I realised that the RH bench didnt have enough proper support son I put two more 1x1 inch box section braces in and it prevented this bending happening

If it's any comfort Paul, ours is exactly the same.
Anybody else out there with a 57/58 ES with the same problem?
Derek

to my unskilled eye that looks like a manufacturing fault the wood has bent/twisted as it has aged, I dont thnk that it should have bent permanently like that in normal or even exceptional useage
