Arm Rest Driver & Passenger seat
Having had two Fiat Motorhomes before purchasing
the Peugeot Boxer based Nuevo the one thing I miss
is having two armrests on the front seats
On the Boxer it has lumber support where
the second armrest was on the Fiat
Are you able to fit extra arm rests in place of
the lumber control or something similar

My Nuevo is a Fiat and has two armrests - however that was partly because that is what we ordered. Had we not specified two armrests we probably would have only got one.

When I purchased my Symbol (which was not new) it had arm rests fitted. These restricted the access from the front seats into the back, so they were removed.

Re: Arm Rest Driver & Passenger seat
Both my Fiat Ducatos had twin arm rests and I loved them for longer journeys.
My Peugeot only has one on each seat and thinking the right arm rest could be substituted by resting my arm on the door trim, I gave it a go and decided I need another arm rest.
I wasn't aware that the latest offerings from Peugeot only have half the required number of arm rests, or that an extra arm rest is on the options list, otherwise I would have opted for two.

Re: Arm Rest Driver & Passenger seat
I wanted one as well. After looking closely at the seat I concluded that it couldn't be done, but I can't remember why not. Will have another look tomorrow.
Shall watch this thread with interest in case anyone comes up with a result!

I think they are "handed" so that ain't going to work I fear.Wargenwolf wrote:Me too, especially as being solo, I have a ready made armrest going spare on the passenger seat
I wonder if there's a threaded socket hidden under the cover material? A poke around with a thin knitting needle tomorrow I think.

which is precisely what you need, the left one from the driver's seat and the right one from the passenger seatWargenwolf wrote:Gromit wrote:I think they are "handed" so that ain't going to work I fear.Wargenwolf wrote:Me too, especially as being solo, I have a ready made armrest going spare on the passenger seat

We had noticed at "the shows" that the AS Pugs only had one rest so we asked if two were available when we ordered. The Marquis salesman said he had specified one "only last week" so knew we could get them. Do the Fiat & Pugs have different seats? Coming from the same production line I would have thought they did not. I know their AS covers are made in Ilkeston and I doubt if they would welcome having to make the odd different seat set just for the Fiat ones.

Re: Arm Rest Driver & Passenger seat
I'm back, and the answer for our seats is "No." There's a little knob for adjusting the lumbar support right where a second armrest would go, so no chance for us.
Don't take too much notice of this result though, since A/S seem to change the type of seat they fit quite often. I can't find a label on ours so I can't advise, but it may come down to year of manufacture and/or model of van.

Re: Arm Rest Driver & Passenger seat
Thanks Terry.
That's ingenious. I'll show it to the boss and see what she thinks. I don't usually bother with the arm rest(s), but we had two on the seats of the previous van and she doesn't much like having only the one now.
It's her birthday soon. She might appreciate an arm rest even more than the lawn mower I gave her last year!

Re: Arm Rest Driver & Passenger seat
Dave, do you have lumbar supports on your seats or just the adjusters? Have I done myself out of the supports by asking for armrests? Not that I care, I would prefer the rests.Gromit wrote:I'm back, and the answer for our seats is "No." There's a little knob for adjusting the lumbar support right where a second armrest would go, so no chance for us.

Re: Arm Rest Driver & Passenger seat
Our previous Elddis chassis cab coachbuilt had 2 armrests and lumbar support (2009). Seats had integrated seat belts and swivels too but we rarely used both armrests to be honest . Even with one armrest tend to find it hampers access to the cab from rear habitation area.

Re: Arm Rest Driver & Passenger seat
Hi Dave
We do have lumbar supports which I find quite useful for the poorly back. My attitude to them is very similar to Kaspian's so I doubt if I'll do anything unless the Memsahib is very keen. Most of the time the arm rests get in the way.

Re: Arm Rest Driver & Passenger seat
I agree that they do get in the way, especially if you leave the door one down and then try to put on the seat belt but I find my shoulders benefit on long drives if I can rest my arms for a while every now and then. Heather has teribble back pains if she can't rest her arms so they were essential for her.
