Autosleeper Trident T4 Question Empty Autosleeper Trident T4 Question

Post by Willy100 Sat 18 Jul 2015 - 15:56

Hi all,

I have a question about my recently purchased VW Trident T4 (2003). On the rear door, the door card has a hole in the centre, it looks like it might be for a manual door release. Is there something that should cover this hole, a plastic bung or similar?

Thanks for your help.

I don't think that there is any bung. Mine is just a square hole which gives access to the tailgate release when the bed is down. I don't have central locking.

This is the hole, next to the strap to pull the door down.

Yes that's the same as ours, but ours is a square hole. If you shut the tailgate and put your finger in the hole you should feel a metal lever. Press that down and the tailgate should open. I believeĀ  that is how they left AS, just a simple hole. scratch head

Thinking about it from a safety point of view think_smiley_46 there has to be a method of opening the tailgate from inside. Even if it's just a very basic method.

Strange that it's just left like that, I thought it would have a plastic cap or cover. It looks untidy to me!
