What's under my passenger seat?
Can anyone tell me what I have under my passenger seat? The area is boxed off, and there is a rocker switch outside the compartment facing the passenger door. I'm guessing it's something to do with battery relay, but I don't know what, or what the switch does - any info much appreciated. Thanks!

It's the ejector seat!
No idea, but a daft post will keep your query in view.

Do you have an electrically operated awning or step?
Both use rocker switches.

Ha! Wondered what happened to the ex-wife ... No, no awning or step. From memory, my old manual says there should be some kind of battery relay unit / charger under the offside bed ( close to water heater ) and there's nothing there - could that be it? Something that allows you to switch from leisure to main battery? Anybody have a van with any such thing? The boxed-in area looks factory-built (upholstered, no screws or studs to allow access), so pretty sure it's not somebody's custom add-on (although I'm liking the idea of an ejector seat ...)

If you cant see any access points to the under seat area then its a seat out job to have a look, then you can trace what the switch on the seat side box does.
Its possible the leisure battery and or charger is under there, or it could be a safe that a previous owner has fitted.

Usually if you put the seat fully back or forward you can see partly into the under seat void.

On my old Clubman, that's where the battery charger for the leisure battery was located. It could be seen when looking under the seat from the windscreen. The charger has a rocker switch, and sometimes a light to show when it's on. I left mine on continuously for 17 years. It only charges when on hookup.
Sounds like there's a mod on yours, with a boxed-in front, and a remote rocker switch.

Hi, on my clubman it is the charger for the leisure battery and the switch you refer to switches it on and off! If you push the seat right forward you will find some screws that hold the cover to the boxed off section, you can then view the charger.
