think_smiley_46 Sorry to here of your troubles. I have been keeping an eye on this thread from the start and it  shows how things change. I was an AA Patrol for 22 years, in the days when things got fixed.
The fuel pump problem comes as no surprise, I have a close friend that repairs diesel pumps for a living. Yes the epic system is not the best, yes the Delphi is a repair option.
When we bought our 1995/6 Duetto my friend said I was very lucky that mine had the Bosch pump. Mine also has the later filter housing. He also said there is no time line for what was fitted. Mostly the none turbo Transits were Bosch but you could find either. The Epic system was fitted to control the emsions better.
Two of the fitters from my bus days drove an open top bus back to the workshops with string from the pump to the back seat on the top deck. They became the depot forman and manager eventualy. censored! The forman worked apposite me with the RAC.
All this shows that the Transits keep coming back if at times they can be a little frustrating. tap_fingers
Scotland should be good test, they have proper hills there.

Interesting post Dave.

For anyone interested here is a link on the Transit Owners forum to a thread started by the guy who did my Bosch conversion. His posts and photographs give a pretty full detailed description of exactly what he does with the pumps.

There is a significant improvement on torque plus more mid range and top end power. Not tested mpg as yet as i've not done my Scotland trip yet but will know better on return. The other 'plus' point is i no longer have an electronic throttle which, in my opinion, was a pretty daft idea to fit to what is originally a commercial van.
