replacement for boat pride products.
Hi all.
In my Autosleepers manual, it recommends Boat Pride hull cleaner and rubbing compound for the glass fibre roof.
I cannot locate these on the web, so guess they are either under a new name. or not trading anymore.
does anyone have a favourite they use instead?.
cheers.

Hi. I used Farecla Gel Coat Restorer on the roof of my Duetto. Came up a treat. A Google search will find it for you.

I think I can add a bit here as I have been into car detailing for over 30 years..
For glass to get a crystal clear finish there is a product called Cerium Oxide. Its a dedicated glass polish and will restore glass better than when the cars left the showroom.
For plastics like skylights simple vehicle bodywork polish is the way to go. Use a medium cut polish first then work down to a fine finish and you will be truly amazed at the results ! Many in the car detailing world do this to restore headlights which are pitted or have yellowed.
HTH.

It's likely that quite a few so called glass polishes will have cerium oxide carried in the base paste. These polishes may work but nowhere near as good as plain CO mixed with water.
When I polish a screen for instance I mix the CO powder with water to thickness similar to an automotive polish like for instance Auto Glym.
I put this onto a pad on a rotary polishing machine and polish the glass. It can be applied by hand it just means it takes longer and is hard work.
The results are amazing ! I have polished out deep scratches made by dodgy wipers scratching the screen. A packet of CO is only a few quid off Ebay so the cost is minimal and far cheaper than the frankly hopeless consumer range of glass polishes..

did i miss something here.
I thought the original question was about polishing the gel coat on a glassfibre roof.
Something I've got to tackle, but I'm not looking forward too.

Polishing fibreglass is exactly the same as automotive bodywork. The gel coat on fibreglass/composite is very thick so will take a heavy cut safely in order to restore.
Plain car polish will do the trick. I would use a medium cut polish and polish using a rotary polishing machine for good fast results. Farecla G3 is a good polish for this application but you will need to mist the area you are working on with water from a spray bottle to lubricate the polish and get it working.
If its a roof you are doing the hard bit is getting at it !
