Latest trip
Hi all,
I have just returned from my latest trip, to France this time. One thing that I noticed this year is that there are very few PVC models over there whereas there were a few years ago. Most people seem to have much larger vans now, Burstners or Rapidos and the PVC is rarely to be seen [except a few British ones that is]. This now means that some smaller Aires cannot accomodate as many vans as previously and where plots are marked out then these larger vans overhang the marks so rendering the next space unusable except to a very small van.
I managed to give out 5 forum cards whilst I was in France so I shall look to see if any of these people become members.
I have brought 2 problems back with me. 1] on the last day the fridge failed to work on 12v. Red light does not glow in switch. Fuse & relay ok so will look at wiring connectors around fridge or maybe it is the element. I hope to be able to reach the wiring by drawing the fridge forward without fully removing it. 2] Reverse lights don't work. Found this before I even got across the Channel. It's not the fuse and is unlikely to be borh bulbe so I guess it is the switch.
Will report back on findings later.

Hi
As someone completely new to motorhoming and unfamiliar with the jargon, could you tell me what a PVC model actually means?
Many thanks

Sorry for using jargon.
PVC means Panel van Conversion which is a camper made using the vehicle manufacturers van and cutting holes for windows etc rather than the coachbuilt motorhome whereby mainly only the cab section is retained, with the converter adding a rear section made of GRP or aluminium or whatever. Examples of panel van conversions are Symbol, Symphony Topaz Trident.
hope that explains it

Hi Squip
Thanks for that. As we have a Trident I was actually driving a PVC without knowing it.
All the best

We were in France and Spain in late July this year and same time last year. We didnt have a problem with the larger vans, just the selfish way some of the northern continentals park using as much space as they can. We did notice how many more vans there were around. Good time had by all though even thought he weather was absolutely appalling for two whole weeks

The switch went on our Symphony, easy job, screw the old one out and screw the new one in. Got mine from Eurocarparts, cost around £12

Just back from northern Spain and France
We have just got back from Spain and France after six weeks of unbroken sunshine apart from one day of thunder storms. Have to say that we saw very few other MHs after our first two weeks.

Re: Latest trip
Hi We also have just returned from Spain, and like yourselves, were very pleasantly surprised at the low number of Motorhomes in the usual beauty spots. I think we saw about 5/6 in total during the 10 days.

Still sat in France at Gruissan Plage!
Re red light on fridge. Had same problem last week. Pushed it in further and it came on OK.
Enjoy being back. The Boss and I will struggle on with the cycling, fishing, sailing and swimming to keep the flag flying over the winter!
Best regards,
Dutto
