Moss and Algae around windows
Hi,
my 2003 Symbol has moss growing in the window brushes of the side windows and algae around the window rubbers of the cab doors.
Does anyone know how to remove the moss from the brushes and hwo to prevent it from returning?

I use a toothbrush and soapy water.
Doesn't stop it coming back though!

I had some brush-strip left over from the bottom of the garage door, cut slots & bent it around a wood mandrel, this was then fitted to a telescoping water lance, sealed/glued it in place with PU adhesive.
It washes off the 'green' from all around windows. recesses etc. very well.

"Baby's bottle" strength Milton solution will stop it coming back - for a while at least. Quick and easy to repeat the dose when needed.
Not too strong though, or it may do more harm than good.

Try diluted Patio Magic, always used on my boat to clean the teak deck. One application,4:1 dilution lasts all year. Brush it on and leave it, don't wash off. It will be gone in a day or two just like magic.

Thanks al for the reply.
Plooughin. you write of Patio Magic. Is this remving the mossy growth in the window brushes or just the algae?

It will kill both after a few days then wash out the residue. Leave it longer the better.

I read in a boating magazine cleaning with some hot water and a few drops of 'oil of cloves' works. I can't say I have tried it, but sounds good also says it sorts out any mildew inside as well. Don't shoot the messenger if it does not though lol.

Tesco are currently about cheapest. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] £6.80 for 2.5l. Works well on patios, decking and fences as well.
