Using space on NuevoES
I wonder whether any Nuevo ES members have found a way to use the space which is available when the upper bed's base is folded up? When the upper bed's base is folded, there is - on the nearside and the offside - a sizeable space above the corner shelf on to which the base gets lowered. I know nothing permanent can be stored there; and I realize that any retaining belt must not be fixed so as to obstruct the base when lowered.
Here's a photo of the space I'm referring to - this is the nearside one taken from above the steering wheel.
I suspect that the answer involves either a small P-type screwed clip, or adhesive strips of velcro.
I'd be grateful to hear of any use being made of this space, which is otherwise wasted when the bed isn't lowered.
Thanks,
Cymro

We leave our bed flap down all the time, even when we don't need the storage space.

In the two vans we had with Lutons we used to leave the bed base down and store Lafuma recliners, Silver screens, step (sorry I mean wine) ladder, and all sorts of odds and ends up there. The cats used it as their 'flat' when we were pitched, of course we didn't have grandchildren then so it was never used as a bed.

Re: Using space on NuevoES
OldFred's idea (thanks for photo) is effective and simple.
However, someone suggested to me that there might be available a hinged arm which - please scroll up to the top of this thread to see my photo - is screwed to the wood (next to the curtain) and which, when closed, lies next to the wood so that the bed can be lowered, but when the bed is up, the hinged arm opens to no more than 90 degrees (so is roughly parallel with the nearside and faces the bed base) thereby holding on the shelf things which are placed there.
(a picture is worth a thousand words!)
Does anyone know if such a hinged arm, with a stop, exists? Have searched Ebay and catalogues in vain!

I would make one Cymro - it ain't a lot of trouble.
If you are up our way in the near future I'll make one for you. It wouldn't take long and will only cost you a pint!
Dave
P.S. A pint of Ardbeg that is, of course!

Oooh! I say! "Worth a detour" - as the old Michelin Green Guides used to say.
I'd even stretch to a pint of Lagavulin for that, Dave!
It's a very kind offer, and I might take you up on that - by prior appointment, of course. Won't be before June, however.
Many thanks,
Cymro

I can't quite picture what you want to achieve Cymro, but would one or a pair of these do the job? http://tiny.cc/0t4ixx
"These particular shelf support brackets are an incredibly versatile bracket in that they are collaspable. They allow for a shelving unit to be lifted up and locked into place when desired, and then lowered flush against the wall when not required for use."
Bet you've always wanted a "collaspable" bracket!
They are the same sort that Autosleepers use for their little lift-up tables by the fridge worktop on some models.

Thanks, Dave: sorry about delay in responding to your helpful post. That looks very promising, and I'll follow it up in due course.
