neuvo es washroom cupboard doors
We're considering buying a Marquis Lancashire Es ( same as neuvo es, I believe) 2006 vintage. The van we've seen has flimsy washroom cupboard doors which seemed to come off in our hands every time we tried to open/close them. Think this would drive us mad if we purchase the van. has anyone had similar problems and, has anyone managed to fix it? Also, any general advice, things to look out for when checking out the van would be very welcome. ( we're considering the neuvo as we don't really want anything longer than our current van conversion which is 5.5m). Thanks

Its not something that has been widely reported we have a few Lancashire owners on here who if it was a problem would have reported it. The one I am most familiar with is Brians (murph) and if he had a problem would have almost certainly sorted it - watch out for a post.
Out of interest the Lancashire is a Nuevo with a few extras added and is a nice little van to use

As others have said Murph is the man and will advise you soon hopefully... as the model you are looking is an 06 have you maybe considered a later seriesII Nuevo? they changed over on the 07 plates and have a better bathroom, might be worthy of consideration.. Good luck anyway CC

Lancashire cupboard door
Hi Alin,
We do not have trouble with the doors falling off, but one of them has broken off at the knob underneath on which they swivel this I have fixed using body filller as an adhesive come filler.
I would suggest that if they fall off completly then you drill out the bottom knob and fit a bolt and nut and possibly some washers as packing to retain it. We think this really is a smashing van and if this is the only problem as far as you are concerned do not let this simple thing put you off, there must be some sort of simple fix to prevent it happening. Possibly even fit wooden doors.
Brian
PS the X250 post 2007 is 9 inches longer than the series 1.

Hi Alir,
We have the same van 06 reg,had it from new, agree the doors are a little flimsy, but are still working as intended, cracking little van.

Cupboard doors
We have a Mark 1 07 Nuevo and I agree the cupboard doors are flimsy. One door fell off in my hand this week and on looking closely I could see something had been put into the lower hole previously but it hasnt worked. Need to look to better solution myself.

Latest fault on my 06 Nuevo, at Whitby - the flimsy plastic door under the sink lower hinge hole has cracked off. Cracking little vans indeed.
Anyone know of a glue that sticks to shiny brittle plastic, please? Or a supply of spare doors?
Regards

Assuming the plastic does not melt at low temperatures, hot melt glue is good on that sort of surface. Unibond Repair Extreme is also pretty good too.

I used plastic padding body filler to fix ours, scrub with sandpaper first to give it a key and then stick it back together,it has sofar lasted over a year so I hope it is permenant.

Well executed Peter
Have you tried Auto-Sleeper parts dept to see if they have any spare doors? Doubtful I know but worth asking all the same...
I do think the plastic used in the construction of Auto-Sleepers bathroom cupboards, shower trays, basins etc should be much thicker... all looks nice when it's new but it's hardly surprising with age it becomes brittle and then easily cracks
Not certain, but Captain Tolley's Creeping Crack Cure might be worth a try? it seeks out the crack sealing and bonding it in one go, never used it myself but it has many followers who swear by it for all kinds of jobs.

Re: neuvo es washroom cupboard doors
Thanks for the replies folks.
I have tried some araldite and stck a penny to the plastic. It seems to work well, so I will use a strip of wood with a hole in it araldited to the base of the door and see if it works.
BTW, and to do with nothing inparticular. Have the seen the review of the AS Merc based job in the latest CC mag? For £64000 I am glad to see that AS standards of design and reliabilty have not slipped at all since I bought my Nuevo 6 years ago. In fact they seem to have remained remarkably similar.
Yours
