Symbol 2003 Crockery Brand? Empty Symbol 2003 Crockery Brand?

Post by ffisher Mon Apr 06, 2015 10:51 pm

Hi, I've bought a 2003 Symbol but the cupboard is bare!
My old set from my 1993 is too large to fit in the cut out crockery shelf and I can't find any bowl sets shallow enough to fit.
Does anyone know what the 2003 came with? Porcelain, melamine or the maybe where I can get a set from which will fit.

Hi ffisher. We took ours out and replaced it with Melamine first thing. The only markings on the original are:
"Wood & Sons-Fine Tableware-Made in England-Dishwasher & microwave proof" It has a simple blue and white pattern.
That's the limit of my knowledge!
Have you tried AS?

Our Executive had no china so we bought Corelle, as we did not like eating off melamine, and it fits our cutouts reasonably well. I had to move the retraining strap to keep it all secure.

Hi, thanks for the replies. Yes I have contacted AS and they gave me the name of Little Red Hen as their supplier at the time of 200
They have now gone out of business and I can't track down their tableware which was Platinum line Marie shape. (whatever that is).
Wood and sons have also gone.
Corelle may be an option but as I've the van on the Isle of Wight I'm limited. I may end up having to go to Argos or just try al the shops around here until I can get onto the mainland.
The problem is trying to fit bowls and plates into the cutouts. It seems the cutout for the bowls only allow for shallow bowls and mine are around 2.5 inches.

Hi ffisher
World kitchen? who I think are the suppliers of Corelle are mail order. If you would like I will take a photo of what I have in place to give you some idea of what their sizes look like in situ.

Hi Louise, yes please! Could you send me a pic of the crockery and how it fits into your van.
I tried to upload a pic onto this forum of my shelf with cutouts but don't know how to do it!! It was asking about some server.

Thanks sue68 however it is very difficult to order a line of crockery if the size and depth of the bolwls and plates are unknown. Maybe they will fit and maybe not. What I need is both the name and style of the crockery and also the size/style of the cutouts from the owners symbol.
Tricky unless you can send me a pic.

Contact Alyson at 'lastchancechina', she helped me with getting a full set of Spring Bouquet including the right size dinner (actually 'salad') plates last year.
She couldn't have been more helpful.

Terry

By the way I did not buy the mugs that Corelle supply as they are heavy china ones and we had plenty of mugs we can use.
