gearbox on symbol 2003

i had work done on gearbox last year it is under guarantee,when changing into second gear it crunches,the garage owner has told me they can,t get parts anymore,and it is a common problem with this make .
any help or advice please?

Hi,
Ensure that the gearbox oil is the old specification rather than the later thinner recommended stuff. The older gearboxes seem to crunch on the thin stuff,
