Topaz roof vent.
Hi All, I have an "N" reg T4 Autosleeper Topaz. In the storms recently I lost the rear roof vent cover.
It is too badly damaged to fix back on. Could anyone advise how difficult a job it is to replace the
whole unit. I would like to replace it with a front hinged wind up one instead of the Pop-up type.
Any advice would be most welcome, thanks, Charles.

Re: Topaz roof vent.
Its actually quite easy. There are basically two halves, the outside part and the inside part. The screws are on the inside so undoing those and then slicing through the sealant on the outside should remove the whole thing. Then ensure you remove all traces of old sealant before resealing the top and offering up the inner before screwing the two halves together. You can probably find a video of how to do it on YouTube.

Might be wise to ensure that the intended replacement has dimensions compatible with the rather large hole you intend to make in the roof !!!

OK, thanks for that too. The ones I've been looking at have a comprehensive list of dimensions
of each type in the advert. Should be fairly straightforward to deduce the aperture size before removing the old one.

Hi Pulsechoes - I imagine that your rooflights are the same size as my Betty's - the one in the bathroom is 280 x 280mm and the one in the main compartment is 400 x 400mm. I replaced the one in the bathroom quite easily by just getting the dome kit. The main one however needed a replacement kit as all the screens were missing from the inside. I managed to buy a good-as-new Heki kit from a local caravan dealer and having decided that I was not confident enough to fit it myself, got a local guy to fit it for me - he charged just under £50 to fit it including the sealant. Hope this helps.
