Re: Mercedes Failure
Good to hear you are getting good service from your dealer, I have always found that the Merc truck dealers give good service, my own dealer City west commercials in Exeter are great, hope you are soon back on the road.

Although I'm 'watching' this topic, I've just noticed I've had no e-mails for the last 24 hrs advising of new posts?

Re: Mercedes Failure
All sorted, two new rear heavy duty springs and they don't know why failed other than 'possible' manufacturing defect. All under warranty, no quibbles.
Very rare apparently as far as Northside Mercedes Trucks in Hull know of.
Service was excellent, kept me up to speed every day, were going to collect me all way from home but I went down on the bus and they picked me up from the station.
Did an oil and filter change and vehicle health check while there. Funnily enough I thought the oil change etc would be very expensive but the whole job was less (and certainly no more) than I could have bought just good quality oil and genuine filter for myself.
Good all round experience really

Re: Mercedes Failure
Good end to the story!
We got a recall on our two-month old (actually, base unit built June 2014) Merc this morning! never had one before in 40-odd years of driving.
Oil leak from timing chain tensioner "...there may also be a potential risk of the leaking oil igniting". It sounds like just a new washer is needed.

If the factory were paying me, I think that I would want four hours.Claytaa wrote:Got the recall letter as well today, booked in next week, they said they needed three hours.

Re: Mercedes Failure
Excellent.
Just been washing mine, first chance since the warranty work and I noticed the headlamp protectors missing. . Now, you cannot take them off without damaging the bonnet unless it is open. The only time it has been open was when it was at the Merc dealer and I drove straight back here. Spoke with reception who spoke with technician who said hadn't removed so hard luck. General manager next point of call was at least sympathetic and agreed couldn't remove without opening bonnet. I did say I HAD been singing their praises and this was such a shame but he was adamant we wouldn't fall out over it and would call me tomorrow. Not a vast sum of money, (but then £50 is quite a lump) but principle here. And annoying. Let's see what he says .

I had protectors on my Skoda Octavia. Like yours, they can't be removed without opening bonnet but one day, one of them flew at my windscreen whilst travelling at 70mph (honest guv) so they can come off. It shattered on the road behind.

Re: Mercedes Failure
A few years ago I collected the Wilton from a Ford dealer after some warranty work. I entered through the habitation door and drove home. I exited through the drivers cab door and found a big scrape on the O/S rear corner. I went straight back - the manager said we cant have done it but I'll look at our Camera recordings. Just after I arrived back at home he called to accept responsibility and they did the body work foc.
Ask your dealer if the van was monitored by CCTV - it would be good to see the van arrive with the covers and leave without them.

Re: Mercedes Failure
Good point that Peter. I did tell him I had a pic of the van just before it was loaded and they were on then. I think for the sake of £50 they will come to a compromise. They will make far more than that out of one service.
