We are seriously thinking of a new kemerton. Does anyone have one and can you give me your opinion of it.We really like the layout but would have preferred the trauma heating. The whale heating seems very noisy. Can't understand why you can't get the upgrade as it's the only van which can't have it.

Re: kemerton
Hello Judy
We bought our kemerton in 2012 and are still very pleaed with it, over the last couple of years I have made some subtle changes to it but nothing major.
I agree that the whale heating is noisy and initially was not that efficient but by re-fitting the Y connector that connects the ducting to the heater ( as Autosleepers had fitted this part the wrong way round ) and changing the vents in living area to one that can be partially closed and the one in the bathroom to one that is permanently open it now works a lot better although still not as good as the truma heater that we had in our previous van.
What suits one person may not suit another but in the 2 years that we have owned the Kemerton I haven’t seen any other van conversion that I would prefer to have.

Hi Batch
Any chance of a photo of Y piece in position. Not too sure there is room to reposition. We have had our Kemerton since Oct 11 perhaps position has changed. Agree just a great layout.

Thanks batch for your reply. Yes , we really like the space and storage in the Kemerton. The whale heating is the only thing that put us off. We have been to see it twice in the showroom and are waiting for the salesman to get back to us with prices. We certainly didn't like the noise when he put the heating on. We haven't seen any on the road and here in our area we see every make of van out there as we walk the dogs past the campsite every day. So makes us wonder why. Glad to hear you are happy with yours .Gives us a bit more confidence in it.

As soon as I get a chance I'll pop out to the van and take some photos.
The Whale heater on mine is positioned behind the cab seats so to actually see the heater you need to remove the top of the extended floor behind the cab seats easy enough to do but busy painting at the mo so this will give me an excuse to stop for 5 mins.

Re: kemerton
Have just spoken to david at autosleeper to make sure there is no way we can have truma heating installed in new a new van. Even at an extra cost it is not possible. He suggested the kemerton xl so not sure if we should have a look at that. Haven't seen one as they didn't have it in the showroom at Perth when we were there.

Have just read in the new AS review in Practical Motorhome magazine that the Kemerton has been dropped. The XL continues.

Re: kemerton
Oh ! Must get a copy and will also speak to the salesman about this. There was no mention of them dropping it when I spoke to David at autosleeper today. I did ask if it was a popular model .He did say that they were disappointed that they couldn't put the truma heating system into it and so they had brought out the xl. Thanks for the info. There must be a good reason for them dropping it as it hasn't been around for too long.

The correct way is the shortest tail takes the ducting to the heater, before I changed this and the vents we had no heating in the bathroom but now we do.
Hope the photo helps..

We visited the NEC show today. Found that the original Kemerton is indeed dropped from the 2015 brochure but the XL version continues.

Re: kemerton
Yes you are right .It has been dropped from the brochure but they will still make it on request as they will for most of their vans that have been dropped from brochure . we have one on order as the layout and space is really good .we didn't want the ex L as the whole idea of down sizing from broadway was to reduce the length . hope you had a good time at the show and found what you were looking for. We went down a few years ago and I loved it. Must say ,hubby wasn't as impressed. I wanted to see in every van possible even although they weren't what we were looking for !
Typical woman ! Thanks again for your reply.

Re: kemerton
There is a live-in test on the Kemerton XL in the latest edition of Practical Motorhome magazine (dated December 2014 - don't ask!) which has just popped through my letterbox. Not read it yet.
