Rear view camera
For anyone thinking about a rear view camera, I've just fit one to my symphony, its a Chinese cheaply from eBay costing just under £30, for that price I wasn't expecting much but its really good and its wireless.I've fitted the camera, only about 1" in diameter and 1" deep, into the plastic cowl which goes above the number plate,(a drill is included with the kit) with the transmitter and connectors all inside the door panel and wired to the rear lights, I usually drive with sidelights on anyway so as long as the lights are on the camera's on. The 4 1\2" monitor is fixed to the right hand side of the dash close to the wing mirror, with receiver and connectors hidden behind the vertical plastic moulded trim, and wired to the cigarette lighter illumination wire so the monitor also works with the lights on. The image is really good, its great to be able to see everything behind, and haven't had any problems with interference.

Hi if you go on to eBay and type in 'rear view camera kit'look for one that's £29.95 and wireless with 4 1\2 inch monitor, there's loads of different options, some monitors clip over the rear view mirror, they actually recommend wiring to reversing light but I wanted mine on all the time. Only took 3 days for delivery.

Anyone found this yet with the item number?
There's 100 s on there.
Also is it ok to drive with with a reverse camera monitor on all the time?

Re: Rear view camera
I have the twin cameras fixed above the high brake light, has a 7" rear view mirror monitor have had it for some months now, wouldn`t be without it, it comes on when I switch the ignition on, when reversing I touch the screen to change to the reversing one, didn`t want it wired up to the reversing as I now have a choice which camera I want to use, I think it is brilliant, can also revert back to rear view mirror which I never use.

Re: Rear view camera
Hi mikeyval. Have just looked on eBay, the one I got was.
ID number 1209721826600 but they have made a mistake with the price they have put a 1 in front. The same one from another supplier is £31.96 ID 271436316378.hope this helps.
And yes its OK to drive with camera/monitor on all the time, just make sure it goes off when ignition goes off.

When the seller on ebay has less than 100% feedback I always look to see why. In this case both of these sellers have got numerous negative complaints and lots of them refer to the rear view camera, so I shall not buy from either. I hope yours continues to work ok fingers crossed

Yep i always check the feedback, to be honest I don't think 99.5℅ and 99.7℅ positive feedback is bad considering the huge turnover. But anyway as you say fingers crossed.

I also always check feedback (that's what it is for) and over 99% to me is fine. I always read the negative feedback, seldom bother with the positive or neutral. The reason being that some of the neg is often from twonks who are trying it on or those morons who post "excellent service and a great product" in negative feedback.fenderbender wrote:Yep i always check the feedback, to be honest I don't think 99.5℅ and 99.7℅ positive feedback is bad considering the huge turnover. There are genuine negatives though but they are usually aimed at sellers with less than 99% positive.
What was on my mind was a way of using the Mobius as a rear view recorder and a reversing cam too. Wireless would be a boon as well. I have an output lead for it which terminates in phono plugs so I'm not really interested in the camera itself, just the monitor & wireless gubbins.

Re: Rear view camera
I was originally going for a wired unit but didn't fancy routing the cable through the van, as long as you can hide the transmitter/receiver somewhere it makes things much easier.
Go on eBay and type in 'Gubbins'☺
Good luck.

Re: Rear view camera
Wireless ones can result in loss of connection to sat due to interference from outside sources , probably just as you need it, that is why I went to the wired version.
