Trident roof top storage Empty Trident roof top storage

Post by CC Fri Feb 25, 2011 7:00 pm

Just found this and as we have been looking for some kind of rooftop storage for the top of our trident for a while, pretty intrested. Most solutions we thought about have not really been suitable for our needs (require something lightweight that can be stowed away when not in use) just wondering what you guys think of these? Should secure with the rooftop bars and give a little extra storage dunno

Hi CC

These look great - I guess it would sit on that area at the back of the roof (so no need for lateral roof bars) and the straps would fix onto the stainless steel roof bars on the Trident. I have a rigid roof box but never used it on my van and have accumalated a few sets of Thule roof bars over the years. This type of thing would be more manouvrable at the top of the ladder which I sometimes find a bit awkard going up at the best of times - never mind playing around with a rigid roof box up there. At £80 they're a cheaper than the rigid type aswell.

Hi Stevo

Yes this is the best kind of storage solution I've seen so far for the Trident roof, sadly it doesn't seem to be waterproof as that would really make it perfect, only other thing that concerns me a little is how secure it would be strapped to the rails dunno Do you think it could slide backwards as you travel? (as the rails run the length of the van and not across the width) I've seen in your photos that you use your roof section, as we havn't used ours yet how do you get on with stuff strapped up there?

I am seriously tempted to get one as I've just been on the lookout for a very large holdall to strap up there, but I'm sure this would do the job much better and also look nicer, might have to take a punt and see how it works out :)

Hi CC
On the video they claim that it is waterproof. I reckon if you fasten the straps to the roof bars on the Trident it would be OK

Cheers

Hi

It looks good, but with any rooftop storage, it is a s-d o get up there. May be OK for stuff that you don't require to use at every stop,(like Awning) but has be waterproof! Still reasonably priced.
