Replacing rear single seat in Symbol
Hi,
In our 2005 Symbol the seat by the sliding door had been removed at some time.
We need an extra seat sometimes and have built one to fit.
The problem is now the seat belt. The pull out part is still there but the part that bolts to the floor is missing.
It is a different fitting than the Peugeot Boxer ones in the front.
Has anybody any idea what make of seatbelt was used in the rear?
Thanks
Chris

Re: Replacing rear single seat in Symbol
Hi,
I can't fully answer your question but this might help. My Symbol failed its MOT last week on the front passenger seatbelt. Not knowing whether this was a Peugeot or an Autosleeper fitted part, I phoned the Autosleeper parts dept to be told that the Front (cab) belts are standard Peugeot but the rear one is Autosleeper. Since I didn't need to change that one I didn't ask what make it was! Were you to phone as I did, I guess they will have the answer. It may also be of interest that I priced a Peugeot replacement for my front cab seat belt at 130 euro on discount in Germany (local Peugeot dealer failed to respond). I then through ebay discovered a British company called Securit who make aftermarket belts. They sorted me out for just over £50.00 delivered. I've ended up with a slightly different looking buckle, but I am much happier to have a complete new belt and buckle.
Chris, you might want to try Securit for a complete replacement, if you can't match the installed reel. Make sure you measure the length of the belt fully extended - if it's like the front one, it will be considerably longer than your standard car belt.
Hope that helps

If by Securit you mean Securon, I can confirm that they are very helpful, and will make belts to exactly the spec you require.
If the belt arrangement was similar to the one in my previous van (a Flair, which has a similar layout to the Symbol) then the buckle will have been on a length of belt material rather than a steel cable stalk, which means that it can stow in a "pocket" in the side of the seat base. This means that you don't trip up on it as you go past, and it also doesn't get in the way of the double bed setup.

Yes I meant Securon - just proves I shouldn't be posting at that time of night!! And yes, the belt on my Symbol on the rear single seat has a buckle like you describe.

Thanks for the advice. Searching for Securon online produced sources and looking at the images this is the make that is fitted.
Will let you know the outcome

I got mine from kcponline who stock Securon belts
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
They specialise in vans and lorries so tend to have the long belts that we need. The bloke I spoke to was most helpful, and I didn't think they were expensive.

Re: Replacing rear single seat in Symbol
I spoke to 'technical' at Securon today and the clever guy told me the part number to buy immediately..... but I had to buy from agent. Which was easy once I knew the part number.
Not quite sorted ....... need a bolt to bolt it in the floor. I can see the thread in the hole and it's too fine for M12 ...... would it really be 7/16 BSF ?
Thanks
Chris

Re: Replacing rear single seat in Symbol
Chris,
Took some time out today to remove the rear seatbelt bolt from the floor. Compared it with one of the several I got with my new front belt and it's identical. The head fits a 17mm socket. No idea what the thread is but it's identical. Just make sure your new buckle comes with the fixing bolt and it will screw right in to the thread in the floor. On close inspection my rear single seat belt is indeed a Securon, as fitted by A/S. So buying the new Securon buckle should be a like for like replacement.
Good luck
