Tyre help please
Have checked the age of the tyres on our '07 Topaz and and condition and it looks like we need a new set as the ones on now are the original tyres and are showing cracking on the walls.
Kwikfit have suggested we order and book on line but it is very confusing with the loading. The sizes on now are 215-65-16-106/104T. but when we search the Goodyear tyre for example doesn't give the full size numbers.
Anyone replace tyres recently who can help identify what we need?
Thanks

Re: Tyre help please
It's quite possible that the wall cracking is not serious and would not compromise the tyre's strength, but 6-7 years old is about the right time to be changing them purely as a precautionary measure - I don't ever recall getting close to wearing out the tread on any of my vans.
There are some good general guides out on the internet for motorhome tyres. For example this one (I only picked it because it was one of the first that came back as a search result, not because I know it well):
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Specifically on load index: You can find out the minimum load index that you need by looking at your van's load plate, picking the larger of the two axle loads (these are usually the last two sets of figures with [1] and [2] before them) and dividing that larger figure by two.
On your existing tyres, the relevant figure is 106 - which corresponds to a 950kg load index, or 1900kg max loading on the axle with the largest load limit figure.

Thank for the link, very helpful and all sorted now, just need to win the lottery to pay for the full set, plus spare.

Re: Tyre help please
I probably shouldn't say this, but on a vehicle where the spare is stored underneath I would be sorely tempted to keep a 7 year old spare if it has had minimal use, still looks Ok and holds pressure well...
