Peugeot Boxer Symphony
I am considering purchasing a Peugeot Boxer Symphony 1997 P reg. Is there anything that I should look for in reference to likely problems when inspecting such a vehicle before purchase?

Hi there,
I suggest that you check out this Factsheet for starters.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
It's "Pre-Delivery" but it will also concentrate your mind when looking at some examples of what you wish to buy.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,

hi,
check for rusty sills, ask if there are any advisories on the last MOT, you can check on line for the mot history. These vans have a history of water getting into the gear box causing problems The bodywork is usually better than the transit, the mechanical side is not,

Hi I agree with Chris. Its not a floor change like the Transit,so check the gears well.
Usually less rust ,but look at top corners for blocked drains.
Slightly shorter but same size washroom.
I think they look great as well.
Petrols are common but they go well. Its like driving a car.
regards
Mike

hi,
I should have said check BOTH sills as they are different and one side suffers from blocked drains more than the other. Mud gets chucked up and lodged in the ends of the sills at the rear,

Around that time The gearboxes in the Boxers were even worse than the later models.
Check the syncromesh on all gears.

They are great vehicles, we have a 1998 petrol one. We actually prefer it from a storage point of view to much more modern Symbols. But rust will probably be an issue on such an old vehicle, so I would definitely get a mech to check it over for you before buying it.
