beware the coin trap
I put a two pound coin on top of a piece of paper, on the flat bit on the dashboard under the speedo etc. (behind the steering wheel) As I picked the piece of paper up the coin disappeared down the gap by the clear plastic. I suppose the only way to retrieve it is by removing the dashboard, if it is still there. Until then I hadn't realised there was a gap.

Re: beware the coin trap
Hi there,
That brought back memories!!
As a teenager I worked on Butlins Amusements in Skegness. When a comrade shouted "Rivets" it meant he had heard some change fall out of someone's pocket (usually on the Waltzer, Moon Rocket, Whip etc).
When the ride stopped the "guest" was ceremoniously assisted off the ride with many thanks whilst the change was recovered and added to the communal "punts" jar.
Perhaps your local garage has a similar arrangement?
Best regards,

This plastic cover is very easy to remove, just a few cross-headed screws from memory and you will have full access. I would advise you to do it sooner rather than later, because a £2 coin is quite large and could potentially end up doing some mischief.

Re: beware the coin trap
Reminds me of the day I collected my first mobile phone: nice summer day, I put my jacket on the back seat of my beetle. About a mile from home, the car died. No electrics. Used the mobile for my first ever call, to ask my wife to ask a friend to come with a tow rope. Think my wife believed me? Oh no - took a lot of persuading that I wasn't mucking about. What caused the car to die? A coin had fallen out of my jacket, and had somehow shorted the exposed battery terminal under the back seat.

Re: beware the coin trap
In 1965 I had a Reliant-Regal ( car version of Del-boys van ) & used to be the first one in the car park at work, one morning, it was dark, I got out, locked up & was walking away when I heard an engine running, nothing about but my car!!
Walked back to it & sure enough, it was running & I had the key in my hand!!
Unlocked it, back in & key in, the only thing that changed was that the ign light want out, so the ONLY way to stop it was to pull a battery lead.
This went on for a day or two & had become something of a routine, anyway, on another pitch-black morning, whilst 'fumbling' for the battery-lead, I received an almighty, searing pain to the fingers, & after jumping about like a thing possessed, had a look down to see something round & glowing red-hot, turned out to be an ordinary steel washer, which I assumed from production, had slid down the angled firewall & rested against the Lucas voltage regulator connectors, flipped it away & all was well again.
This 'in circuit washer' was keeping the ignition live, & daylight reviled burnt finger & thumb tips !!
So beware, a loose coin could also cause electrical problems.
