drive away awning...warwick duo
hi
looking to buy a drive away awning / stand alone storage shelter;narrowed choice down to 2
Kampa travel pod 310...(looks not so easy to erect with seperate poles etc...but looks good
Khyam motordome classic......easy set up but can foul side door.
both seem good quality / brands and are approx £300.
experience / advice greatly appreciated.
thanks
geoff and sandi

Hi Geoff,
we use a khyam motordome tourer which is so easy to put up in around 5 minutes (not including pegging out), quite often we do not use the coupling section to the van as on some sites we have been told that the van and awning exeed the pitch size and break the 6 metre rule so we just pitch it close to the van and leave the coupling section rolled up. can really recommend the quick erect system on the khyam it makes it so easy to set up (and take down) we got the motordome tourer as it has a smaller footprint than the others and helps to maintain the said "6 metre rule"

Re: drive away awning...warwick duo
thanks very much don...sounds like a good buy; apparently there is no stock left for 2013 buy kyham advised me that the 2014 model has some upgrades.
price £419 a bit steep but it is good kit and you get what you pay for i guess.
spoke with kyham and they advised excelsior 780 as it will accomodate the wide side door when open.
anyone know of any discounts available...khyam kampers club offers 5 % which isnt exactly life changing !

Love my Kyham. I always check side door and if it might touch I always tie it back. After having a pig of an awning before I will always recommend Kyham as they are so easy to put up.

Try Preloved and they sometimes come up on Ebay. I got mine from Somerset Camping. Gave me great advice (its all to do with the height of your van) and prices slashed at the moment for the 2014 models.

I don't use a kador strip with my Trident although I have one. I have a j rail. Somerset campers will advise you. I used to have one with my old camper which had a c rail but trial and error is a good thing.
