Have you filled the freshwater tank with water and switched off the drain taps on the tank and boiler?

Are all the other taps and shower switched off?

What age is your Duetto?

no water duetto Empty Re No Water

Post by Southwaite Sun Oct 27, 2013 2:58 pm

I have an AS Stratford which is 12 months old. The pump on my van is inside the fresh water tank & so is inaccessible.I have been experiencing problems as described for about 3 months now in that when I drain down & try to prime the system again I can hear the pump running but nothing else happens.
Marquis seem mystified & the van is going in again this week for another try!
I hope you get sorted but if my mystery is solved I will post again.

The water systems in the Duetto and Stratford are very different.

On your model you should have a Carver heater and it is a plastic drain plug in the corner of the flue outside. There is also a vent valve on the top corner that needs to be opened when you are draining and closed when finished. I'm a bit rusty on that model so if you want clarification just ask and I'm sure someone will do so.

The blown air heater? It would have had a gas connection as well.

There are a few active members of the forum with your era of Duetto (it was the first van we had) so I'm sure they will chime in.

We got a habitation check, which told us what was working and what wasn't. We also were assured we hadn't got a gas leak

no water duetto Empty Duetto Water Heater Missing

Post by Peter Brown Mon Oct 28, 2013 11:52 am

The Henry is a replacement for the original Carver and you may be able to source either second hand. If you look at the link above you can find your way to fitting instructions etc.

Do you still have the flue cover on the outside of the van? Are the controls still installed?

I really hope someone who is currently familiar with that type of heater steps in as its several years since I've used one.

Hi wave

mickenbacker 330 wrote:the vent is still on the side so i never thought anything about it plus i am new to all this so my naivety plays a big partno water duetto 479472 i have now sourced one from a caravan breakers.he is going to test it before i buy so hopefully all will be good.he has even told me how to install it seems easy enough, but i might get a mate who's a plumber to connect the gasno water duetto 289367827.as for needing one we had it on our list of what we wanted so i suppose time will tell.will keep you posted on the installing bitno water duetto 256783

Sounds as if you’ve got it sorted. If you haven’t already discovered it, the gas comes from a multi-tap device in the cupboard under the sink so if a gas pipe doesn’t appear in the heater compartment presumably it’s been removed and capped off.

Before you fit the replacement I’d advise checking the nylon water (screw in) connectors. They tend to go brittle over the years and crack causing leaks. If they are showing any signs of distress you may want to replace them before you fit the heater to save trouble later. In any case it’s certainly worth getting a new drain plug washer. I change mine every year, if you don’t you’ll probably find you need to do the plug up so tightly that you risk damaging the nylon thread on the heater.

Sorry if I’m stating the obvious (granny sucking eggs comes to mind) but don’t forget to drain it down again before the weather gets too cold. You need to remove the drain plug on the lower left hand side (viewed from outside the van) and preferably undo the half turn device on the top left. Draining the fresh water tank doesn’t drain the heater!
