Fridge not working on 12v or mains
Hi
I've looked through quite a few other fridge problem posts and cannot find the answer so here's another one.
We have a 97 talisman which we have just had a few weeks and the fridge has stopped working on mains and 12 v, it works great on gas though.
Can anyone assist with any advice, we were going to take the fridge out to have a look behind or should we be looking elsewhere.
Many thanks

i presume you have checked that the thermostat is in an on position?. the gas is seperate.the thermostat is the first thing i would check,as you have power to the unit.

Fridge not working on 12v or mains
I have recently had a problem with the fridge not working on 12v and traced it to the fuses and relays under the drivers seat, I just cleaned all the contacts and it worked. With high resistance contacts it is possible to read 12v at the switches but it drops when current is drawn. Hope this helps.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
The link above is to a you tube film that describes how and absorption fridge works.
It all starts with the boiling of a fluid and that can be done either by a gas burner, a 230v heating element or a 12v heating element.
As your fridge works on gas then the dynamics of operation must be ok. As there are separate heating elements for 12v and 230v then it is likely that whatever controls their operation is at fault (or all the wiring has broken off). If you post the model number of your fridge, someone my be able to advise on that (I will have very limited availability for a couple od weeks).
Before you remove the fridge you can access a lot from outside the van by removing the fridge vents.

Re: Fridge not working on 12v or mains
Hi, thank you all for your advice, we took the fridge out and checked the thermostat, we have power there so that seems to be ok, I don't think it's a fuse as we have power to the thermostat, therefore I think it will be a trip back to the garage, the van is still under warranty, it's just that if it was going to be a straight forward job it would save us the trip and we also wouldn't be missing out on our trips in this gorgeous weather.
Many thanks

Problem solved
Hi
Just to let everyone know that the problem turned out to be the element. The fridge did actually work on gas and 12 v but not 240 just in case someone else has the same problem
Thanks
