Fridge not working
As above not working on gas,I turn the control to gas the amber light comes on then a few seconds later it starts to flash,I leave it for 30seconds and I does not light I have done that 3 times and no joy. The manual says it could be air in the system, how long can I leave the light flashing, and is there a danger if I leave I flashing to long?.

Re: Fridge not working
It won't hurt to leave the light flashing for some time Rich, but I think it's better to switch the control to "Off" and start again.
I presume you have a Dometic fridge, in which case they can be a bu$$er to light at times. On our previous Nuevo I sometimes had to spend anything up to 5 minutes "persuading" the damn thing to stay alight.
It can only be due to air in the system, in spite of the fact that there really shouldn't be any. It was far worse when we had not used the van for a while. If it was used every two or three weeks there was rarely any problem.
Hope this helps - give it time and keep trying. It will probably stay alight eventually.

Re: Fridge not working
I make it a rule, whenever switching gas back on after it has been off for some time or after changing a bottle, to light a hob burner first to purge sny air. If the fridge is the first user of gas it will get the air and it can take sges to purge.
If your fridge has automatic fuel selection it will go to a fault condition if there is air in the system. You will need to switch to Gas manually and persevere. I try to remember to switch off the taps in the wardrobe between trips and then to switch on - Hob, heater, fridge testing each in turn before turning on the next.

Re: Fridge not working
This may be a daft question, Do you have something to keep pressed while the thermocouple warms up? I have to keep the gas button pressed until the light stays lit. I can see the flame in a small window inside the fridge at the bottom.

Re: Fridge not working
You have to keep the gas button pushed in on the older Electrolux fridges but with the later Dometic ones, you simply turn the power selector switch to gas/240v/12v and igniting happens automatically (once the air is out of the system).

Re: Fridge not working
Every van I have had has had trouble with the Fridge gas system... Apart from first which was a AS Rambler GL 2. and the cure as always been fitting a new jet and burner. I have just replaced the one on my AS Montana. Cost for parts is about £35 £45 but well worth keeping the wine cool!

Re: Fridge not working
The isolator is the gas tap - on my van in the wardrobe but its location varies. For the last 15 years or so they have been taps with red lozenge shaped handles.
