2009 Symbol - Help, Please Empty 2009 Symbol - Help, Please

I wonder if I might ask for help from another 2009 Symbol owner.

I have two queries which I would like to resolve.

1) The electrical control panel fitted to my Symbol has a screen with three buttons below. I believe it is made by MES. Is the background to the screen illuminated at all times the system is on? eg, when the date/time legend is shown, is the blue background on all the time?

2) My heating system is an Eberspacher Airtronic D2 diesel burning system together with an Airlectric electric heater. When using the electric heater, does the blower continue to run when the temperature has been achieved and the heating cuts off?

Thanks a lot to anyone who can assist.

Given that the van is relatively recent I'd call Auto-sleepers themselves and ask. I'm fairly sure the Airlectric was quite an expensive option, so I doubt it was fitted to many vans...

2009 Symbol - Help, Please Empty re - Symbol 09 Questions

Post by Kemerton-bath Mon Jun 10, 2013 10:07 pm

Hello,

I have owned a 2009 Symbol for 3 years and can answer your questions:

1. The control panel backlighting turns off after a certain time has elapsed since the last button press. Not sure what that time is, but only a few minutes I think.

2. The heating system when operated on a 240V supply will keep the blower operating constantly. I think the same is true if operating on diesel but we haven't used it enough in this mode to know for sure. In our experience we find the hot air system noisy and not terribly effective at keeping the van sufficiently warm when we use it in winter. In winter we tend to use a hook-up but the system supplies warm air at a lower temperature than if used in diesel mode. Instead we use a small (2kW) fan heater with a plug-in thermostat, which is quieter and more effective. Other than that, we find it an excellent van.
