Leaking kitchen tap
I seem to have a leak on the mixer tap on the kitchen sink in my 1994 Duetto. I cannot find a way to take off the tap heads to change the washer! Any ideas?? Don't want to change the complete tap unless I have to. Surely I should be able to change a washer or at least be able to look at the workings of the tap.

Re: Leaking kitchen tap
Hi
Just a long shot but my kitchen mixer was letting by at one point. In desperation, I worked the taps on and off several times and it solved the problem. I suspect in my case a bit of scale or suchlike was causing the problem.
I did look at the possibility of removing/replacing the mixer, but it looks like a major strip down to do this, unless somebody else on here knows a short cut.
Regards

Blossom, Will try the on/off method as suggested but hope someone will come up with a way of changing the washer etc. without stripping the whole thing down. Like you say, looks like a major job! Thanks for your time anyway.

Hi Iceman.
Can you put a photo of the type of tap you are having the problem with and I might be able to help.
The common fault with most motorhome taps is that they become very stiff and dont shut down properly.
Normally a strip down clean and lubricate with a little vasaline cures them.
Cheers Whisky.

Whisky, Have added photo of taps (I think!!) Hope the photo is clear enough. Have also tried the on/off method which seems to have worked but would still like to be able to do the maintenance on the taps once in a while. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.

Hi Iceman.
I agree with Mike they look like Comet Novo taps. Some of the tap tops just pull off. But on others you have to ease out the red and blue indice in the tap tops there should be a screw under there. remove the screw and pull off the tap tops. The tap headgear on these taps are plastic and dont have washers as such they are fitted with "o" rings. New rings and a little bit of silicon lubricant should solve the problem. do not use anything oil based to lubricate as this makes the plastic go brittle.
Good luck with it. Whisky.

Re: Leaking kitchen tap
Result!!! Tap was still leaking when using hot water so removed the top and cleaned the rings etc. and now it doesn't leak Bit of a struggle getting the tap head back on but managed in the end with a bit of brute force and ignorance!!! Thanks for advice from everyone.
