Bigger TV for a Warwick
Has anybody with an Auto Sleeper warwick or warwick duo fitted a bigger TV from the original bracket? I've been looking at a 16" TV telly possibly from Avtex but it is around 3Kg, while the original 10" is nearer 1Kg as weighed on my bathroom scales so exactly how accurate this is I don't know, I can't find any written weight for it as they no longer make it.

I fitted a 16in Avtex in the same position but with the appropriate bracket. I had to cut a larger hole in the under shelf for the Scart connector. I then made a "sandwich" out of mdf to hide the hole and strengthen the shelf. this was covered with plastic imitation wood sheeting to match existing. I have driven over 2000 miles since fitted and it is as rigid as ever.

Re: bigger telly for a Warwick
Hi Johnh
Thanks for your reply, my main concern was the screws that pass through the bottom of the locker to hold the block that the telly is attached to and whether the weight would pull them through, I suppose I could do a similar thing to your MDF and use a metal plate inside the locker to spread the load, did you need to replace the original mount because the holes didn't line up for the screws in the back of the telly. Just out of interest what did you need a scart lead for?

First things first. I had to change to a Scart connection because the original connection was Scart on the receiver and 3.5mm Jack plug input to the 10in Avtex television from a satellite receiver. I used a new mounting plate on the advice of Avtex who pointed out that the increased weight might be too much for the original mount. Lastly, I could not find a plate to spread the weight of the television that is where the mdf sandwich came in. I used coach bolts to fasten the television mount through two pieces of mdf and the original cupboard base. The weight is then spread out across the complete shelf.
I had to move the television further out from the window and further away from the rear but I can still fold the screen up and rotate it to suit.
More by good luck than by judgement but the end effect is better for my wife and I.
