T4 Trident - which porta-potti?
Does anyone know of a porta-potti model which will fit the T4 Trident cupboard (on floor next to the fridge)?
The Thetford 335 is fine for width and height but is about 1cm too deep and the door won't shut. I tried fitting it at a local caravanning store because it's tricky to work out the exact required size.
I think it needs to be no more than 32cm high, 35cm wide, 37.5cm deep
At this rate we'll all end up using our son's potty but that's not ideal to say the least!!
Thanks
Nick

Hi there,
This looks like it might be a bit big! On the other hand it might be worth a look at that price!

On the other hand, all the applicable sizes for Thetfors Toilets are to be found here:

Hope this helps.
Best regards,

I have a Thetford 235, the old model, which I think is now the 345. Email Thetford as they should be able to tell you. Mine fits perfectly. Or you could get a toilet tent and treat yourselves to a big one.

Re: T4 Trident - which porta-potti?
that's a puzzle Our trident came with the older Thetford bellow 335, but we already had the next model of the 335, so use that. They both fit. I looked at the new 335 Qube, but the dimensions seem to be the same as the older 335's we've got.

Re: T4 Trident - which porta-potti?
We replaced the Porta-potti in our Trident a few months back just after we bought her.
We bought a '335' from Amazon and it fits fine! It is a very close fit - you have to have put it at a very slight angle but the door closes nicely. Is there something at the back stopping it fitting??
This is the one we bought (from this seller as well):

Re: Trident T4 ports potti
Our T4 Trident came with an Elsan visa potty 238 this is also a good fit. You have to make sure the cupboard door is open completely to get it in.

We purchased the Lidel (Mobil toilet) one about 3 years ago and that had a Thetford model 35.…. label stuck to it. Good value I’d say.

Re: T4 Trident - which porta-potti?
Thanks for the replies - I think I will go for the Elsan as the all the dimensions seem ok. There was nothing at the back of the cupboard so it's a bit of a mystery why the Thetford didn't quite fit. Perhaps I didn't try rotating it enough, but it didn't seem close to fitting. Anyway, the Elsan looks like it should fit, and it a bit cheaper so will go for that I think.
Thanks again

Re: T4 Trident - which porta-potti?
As a follow up to the original question have people managed to fit the thetford 335 into the cupboard unit in a trident/trooper, we have the original Elsan but it has seen action so to speak, I'm not sure Elsan do them anymore and the 335 dimentions are slightly bigger?
Thank you

Elsan Visa 238 Porta Potty
I have a VW T4 camper and after 17 years the porta potty has broken. The model which fits perfectly is the Elsan Visa 238 but I cannot find it anywhere to purchase. The Thetford smallest model is too wide for the cupboard to fit neatly.
Can anyone help please.

Have you looked at the Outwell potty. The 238 is available in USA on eBay but postage doubles the price. There is also an American range called Passport potty sold through chandler's, maybe worth trying a chandler over here, the smallest is 8 litre.

Thanks for your suggestions - I have looked at these and the dimensions are still too big for the designated cupboard!

Perhaps if you gave your maximum dimensions (inches and cms) we could keep looking.

I had a 1998 Trident and bought a porta potti 335 which fitted the cupboard perfectly.
Just checked and they are still available on ebay

After lots of research and visiting to camping/caravan/campervan shops, I am convinced there is no alternative to the Elsan Visa Potty 238. Elsan have said that the company no longer make this item and there isn't a replacement which fits that cupboard! I have decided to buy the Thetford smallest 335 and put it in the boot under the folded up bed/seat. Not ideal as you would need to go outside to get it, to put inside the camper to use overnight. I used the lower boot space for footwear, so these items will now live in the "toilet cupboard" unless I do find a 2nd hand Elsan 238!

The thetford 335 fits in my cupboard, you do have to open the door right out to get it in and push right to the back but then the door shuts....... x
