pop up tents Empty pop up tents

Post by reenag06 Wed Feb 20, 2013 1:40 pm

I have an autosleeper symbol and it has a fiamma awning attached. I was thinking about getting a drive away awning just to enable me to store things in if I need to go out in the van during the day. Does anyone use a small pop up tent to store equipment in and if so do you have to pay site fees on a tent, awning or do they waive the fee?

Thanks,
Maureen all confused walkies

We use(d) what is known as a utility tent or Outhouse (it can be seen in my avatar photo) but now use a small dome tent. Never have we been charged extra for it. The Outhouse is for sale if you're interested, PM me if you like.

Hi there,

We had a "pop-up" tent but I lost the first three rounds of the wrestling matches I had trying to get it back into its bag! tap_fingers

The last time I wrestled it into the bag was on a hot, windy day in a sandstorm. After that I sold it for a song and have never looked back! up!

Hope this helps. allthumbz

Best regards,

Similar experience of pop up tents. - needs at least two people to "wrestle" it back into the bag. Maybe with years of practice it gets easier. Admittedly it was a very cheap one - maybe better quality ones are easier to deal with. Having said that, it is a great ides for storing stuff on site, but maybe a non pop up version of a small tent would be preferable.

They're not!! Ours was a Quechua which is allegedly one of the best around.

We are not keen on leaving stuff on-site when we are away so we now use a Windblocker attached to the awning. It provides external storage and also extends our living area whereas the tent was just a storage area.

Including the pegs and hammer it all packs into its own bag; which is about half the size of a standard carrier-bag.

Hi Our previous Duetto came with an assortment of Fiamma Blockers and side wall etc and all of them weighed a Ton, so I sold them on Ebay(good for market research), and I bought a lightweight Dome Tent from Millets, and still use it with our present Executive, as a store room for bike, wheelchair and BBQ. Very easy to pitch, even on your own (my wife is disabled so cannot help me now). It is about quarter of the weight and size of the Fiamma kit. I can store it under the onside bed, with room for other bits and pieces. Lots of choice out there, with Companies like GO Outdoors and Decathlon.

Bit late in replying but have you looked on YouTube? My husband has perfected the art of getting the tent back in the bag in less than three minutes! He watched the computer whilst practising how to do it and now is often to be found on sites demonstrating how its done. We use our pop up as a cupboard for storing chairs, table, wellies etc. and have never been charged extra.

Sorry I don't know how to send a link but if you put "how to fold a pop up tent" into the YouTube (or is it UTube) search box lots of them come up. There is a good one which reckons it takes 2 seconds flat. Good luck

We use one of these, when we need to.

Just open the bag and it pops out into shape and peg it down. Simple.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

There are loads around these days.

Takes a bit of practice to put back in the bag.
