Re: Auto Sleeper Build No's
Far be it from me to contradict the experts but I have the original Auto-Sleepers Warranty Certificate in my name from 24th April 1999 which has H402 written at the top.
Furthermore the NCC Certificate has H402 typed in for the 'serial no.' and is signed by the Quality Inspector- 'D Woodward' and Alan Bishop the then Director General of the NCC.
Maybe the serial number is NOT the build number, but H402 is on a sticker in my glovebox and Alan (AS Spares) was able to give me information on the Harmony based on that reference no.

It doesn't tie in at all with mine. Mine (marked in both the owner's manual and the AS sticker in the glovebox) starts with a K, but it's a SWB panel van.
So you may have been told this with authority and conviction, but whoever told you it was plainly wrong!
I can say with certainty that my van has never been MWB, LWB nor coachbuilt.

Re: Auto Sleeper Build No's
I met someone last night who is long retired but was there much earlier. A B C D E F G & H were also used but he couldn't give any correlation to model types or years - they were just serial numbers and in those days when they got to '999 they moved up a letter.
I tried to help on this issue but failed - sorry.

Peter Brown wrote:I’ve been to the factory today and ascertained the following re build numbers.
P = Panel Van
J = Short Wheel Base Coachbuilt
K = Medium or Long Wheel Base Coachbuilt
C = Caravan
The numbers are serial numbers allocated sequentially as build numbers when the base vehicle chassis is ordered.

Re: Auto Sleeper Build No's
Our 2005 Duetto was P
Our Stratford is also P
So our idea is that P is for panel van as there was about 7 years between the build dates although only about 2100 in the number.
Edited as I missed a bit lol.

Re: Auto Sleeper Build No's
My '98 Montana build number label has faded to become un readable. So last month (May2017) I called A/S to see if I could get the build number by quoting the chassis number. The chap at the other end of the line found my job number with a prefix of H and proceeded to tell me all about it, ie, colour trim, extra's etc. Then he said "I remember the pop top Montana build well as I didn't build many" you built it I asked? Yes, about 15 pop tops with the Reimo roof.newterry wrote:I'm still surprised as Harmony's are prefixed with an 'H' , presumably a Ravenna would be prefixed with an 'R' ?

Re: Auto Sleeper Build No's
Hi Biffo,
That's great, did he offer to send you a copy of the build notes ? When I visited the factory last year I nearly got them but suddenly the system wasn't working ! Shame, because it would make a great addition to the vehicle records to go with the base vehicle build notes which I've already got.

Hi Terry. I didn't think to ask actually. I'm going to call them tomorrow as they have a part in their sale that I could do with so I may ask then. Ps you have a pm

Harmony Build Number
Mine is a 96 Harmony and the build number starts with "F". Could it be that they first started using build numbers in 90(A), 91 (B), 92 (C) --> 96 (F) - just a thought. I'm glad that, thanks to the kind folk on this forum, I've already got most of the info on the van that I need.
Regards to all.

Hi Grahame,
With my 98 build Harmony also 'H' that makes sense, good spot ! That also ties in with the fire in the late 80's that destroyed a lot of records.
Terry
ps My Harmony is going to MW Autos in Wisbech at the end of October for a proper gearbox rebuild. Can't wait as I'm planning to go to Arran and Skye next year.
