Nuevo ES heater
Expecting a grim (Scottish) winter I drained all the water from fresh, grey, waste and flush reservoirs.
I opened taps, ran the pump and even remembered to drain the bit that I've never really understood - the heater.
Am I right in thinking that the heater works by using gas or electricity to heat water in a heat exchanger then deliver it to the habitation area by either fan or convection?
We'd like to head away for a couple of days and wonder how much filling I must do to keep us cosy. In other words can I fill the heat exchanger without filling the fresh water tank?

I have no personal experience of the system but if you have a Truma Combi 4E fitted, the heater can be operated without water. See your handbook or if you haven't got one, find the model of heater installed and look at the manufacturers web site.
Personally I fill everything and keep both heat and water switched on all the time. We were out last weekend.

Don't be silly, we're not getting a grim winter !!!
Peter is right, the Truma is independent of the water system and relies on an electric element plus a gas heat exchanger - you can deploy either or both but they won't affect your water circuit. If you take the front fascia (in the living area) off your heater, it will expose the two seperate elements. The water circuit has a seperate boiler system.
cheers Bob

Thanks both.
I think I understand what's going on now, but like most things in my life I need to see it to understand it.
Later today I'll take a mug of coffee, spectacles, a crow bar and a 4lb hammer to investigate further. Oh, and a first aid kit.
