Hi Top Side Window Blew Off !!!
HI All
I was doing a few little jobs in the Trident today and opened the Hi Top side window and the wind caught it and wrenched it from its fixings. I tried in vain for ages to work out how to get it back on until my wife came along and sussed it ! It wasn't until my mate came along that we were able to get it back on. You have to fit it in upside down and keep the window rail pressd in as you try to close the window.- It's really hard to explain how to do it. But anyway - sorted now !

Stevo,
So the window can blow out without breaking any of the parts? Does it come completely out or is it only the top edge that comes out?
Mine has a bar from the window to the frame in the van body, and this has a friction thumbscrew. Is yours the same? If so what happened to this bar? I have always considered that parts of this bar look very weak and vulnerable especially when the window is opened very wide.

Hi Squip
I probably undid the thumbscrew too much when opening the window then a gust of wind just blew the window right open. It didn't come completely off until I tried closing it again then the whole window came away in my hands.

Stevo,
Thanks for that. It's something for many of us to watch out for. Easily done.

Thanks for the warning, never would have thought of the vents as being that vulnerable!

Re: Hi Top Side Window Blew Off !!!
Whilst on the subject of side windows dropping out, owners should also be aware that the roof lights get progressively brittle where they are plastic welded to the raise/lower mechanism. We were in Germany one year and the wife closed the top vent rather vigourously and that popped off completely. Fortunately it wasn't raining but it was a pig to improvise means of retaining it. In the next day we found a motorhome dealer who sold an exact replacement. Whilst on the hi-top I also examined the washroom roof light and found signs of failure in that too, so we changed that as well.
