Re: Blanking Plug for Carver Hot water tank
The inlet pipe on the Symphony is impossible to access without dismantling something so whilst a tap may be more reliable, it just isn't practical on the Symphony. Your van is obviously different.art wrote:I fitted a tap on the heater inlet pipe , probably more reliable???

Thought I better reply to this as it was I who made some for members, I've NEVER tried them & Don't use one myself, so cannot vouch for their effectiveness.Harper22 wrote:I actually have one of these BUT it doesn't work, water still goes into the heater, tried it both ways but still fills, v odd

These were not my idea, an 'original' dimension was provided by another member who had one, I made them to this.

Hi Modelman, sorry I didn't suggest I had one that you made :-) my guess is that over the years my heater openings have worn, I understand the theory but just never got a good fit to stop the tank filling sadly, I guarantee that with the right sized piece and right sized opening they would do the job, congrats on the fabrication

I will just add to MM's post that the 'specs' came from me. I didn't have a blanking plug but my mate who also has a Duetto, his was left in one of the drawers when he bought his van so i loaned his and took it to another friend who works in Engineering and asked if he could knock me a copy up. No problem as it's a simple micrometer job then using suitable bar and letting the lathe 'do the work'.
When MM said he could knock 'em out, i sent him mine which is made of aluminum bar. So the 'specs' MM used have actually been taken from an original A/S part. I have used mine once and it appeared to work as it should.

Cor, i'm glad you posted this, as I too thought it was Whisky who gave me the details, then I saw your post & thought I was losing the plot & senility was setting-in.
