Autosleeper Broadway 2023 - Electric Heating
We have been trying to get electric heating working on our 2023 Broadway EL. If we select Electric heat (900 or 1800) when EHU connected we get the dreaded E514H message. If we turn the gas tap on the electric heating and water works fine (but does seem to use a mixture of gas and electric).. When we were in the Outer Hebrides and ran out of gas (beware: only gas refill there is in Stornaway!) we were unable to use any heating......and thats where you need it. Dealer implies thats how it works...

If the energy source is set to EL1 or EL2 on the Truma CP there should be no gas cylinder symbol shown on the top bar of the CP and the Truma should work on mains when connected to an EHU with both the EC700 PSU and EC700 CP power button on. If the energy source is not set to GAS, MIX 1 or MIX 2, the gas supply for the Truma should be turned off and there should be no error message. If the dealer is telling you different, he is wrong.Scooby3 wrote:We have been trying to get electric heating working on our 2023 Broadway EL. If you have the energy source set to GAS, MIX 1 or MIX 2, and you have run out of gas or the gas supply for the Truma is turned off, you probably will get an error message.

Re: Autosleeper Broadway 2023 - Electric Heating
I was told by both the dealer and Truma that if the gas tank is empty the heater will not work even when either of the two electric settings are selected. We also had a very cold night until we were able to fill up with gas.
Interestingly, the gas gauge on the tank had stuck at 3/4 full, so we thought we had more than sufficient gas. The dealer freed off the gauge and it then indicated zero on the tank and there were no lights showing on the gauge in the cab.
Since then, I have never had an empty gas tank, so have never managed to replicate the situation we experienced. I have tried turning the gas valve off and the heater still works on mains power.
Apart from the gauge on the tank, is there another sensor on the gas supply indicating it is empty? If not I do not understand why the heater would not work when the gas tank was empty. Once we had filled the tank again, the heater worked on mains power. This is exactly what the dealer (SMC) and Truma had told me.

Very odd. When we accidentally ran out of gas, the Truma continued work on EL2. The Truma and fridge gas taps were off as they invariably are. The only thing that stopped working was the cooker.
