Worktop Repair help/ideas Empty Worktop Repair help/ideas

Whilst doing a repair to the door from kitchen to shower room, I put my drill on the work surface adjacent to the kitchen sink. Son came into the van and knocked the drill over causing the chuck to nose dive into surface making a 1cm hole in the surface. The work surface is a hollow structure so filling the hole is difficult. Has anyone come across this predicament before and how did you fix it? Replacing the whole worktop section would be a nightmare
Any help or ideas would be great.blush
Thanks Mal

Self adhesive floor tiles from B&Q worked for us, easy to trim using paper template and finish edges with silicon. 3 years since I repaired ours this way and still as good as day we did the repair

Just put 'worktop' into the search box (top right) and you'll find lots of previous threads on the subject with lots of suggestions.

Thanks, Bilbo, Ian and Paul. Thanks for your kind responses. Still mulling this over I have emailed [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
who seem promising but not cheap, £150 plus vat but no guarantee due to it being a van and the possibility of vibration.

The worktop on our van had been repaired when we got it.  I guess it was damaged by the plate falling out of the Microwave.  The repair looks to have been done with a coloured epoxy resin.  Its solid enough but is covered by the (German) glass chopping board when on site.

Injecting builders expanding foam into the hole, once set would take any vertical loads in future. Once set it could be drilled with a forstner bit to 1 mm below surface, the that 10x 1 mm cavity filled with car body filler. Put masking tape all over prior to this the sanding of the filler won't scratch the rest. Careful matching of mixed humbrol type paint would finish the job. Won't be 100% invisible but you could do as Peter has done too.
One of my Warwick Duos had exactly the same.

Be a lot less than £150+ vat!!!
