Heating fails on gas
Hi all
We have a 2016 Symbol with a Trauma heating system. We're currently in Northern Spain where the weather seems as chilly as most of the UK. 'Erself, being a fragile flower, feels the cold but when trying to coax the heating into life it will fail when trying to use any element involving gas. OK on electricity. The gas IS turned ON.
Has anyone any suggestions that a technical numpty might be able to look at?
Cheers
Tony

On my heater there is a 1.5v battery that drives the ignition. Do you hear a clicking noise when you attempt to light the heater on gas?

Truma combi I assume, so no battery ignition. Does cooker work ok? Just establishing if gas is getting through. You need 12v power on to ignite, so is water pump running ok and control panel switched on?

Thanks Paul, Taurian.
Fridge and stove work. When switched on it makes encouraging noises until there's a whoompf as the gas tries to light, then the red light flashes and it shuts down. Heating works on electric, hot water and van heating doesn't on gas

Your regulator obviously works if your other appliances work, ignition sounds OK, so I'm stumped now.

Is it one of the models that has an external flue cover and if so have you removed this?

Re: Heating fails on gas
Your problem is more than likely nothing to do with this but I’ve only ever had a problem once firing up the Truma heating on gas a couple of years ago after the winter layup.
As soon as the gas tried to fire up the boiler it shut down. For some reason it didn’t shutdown on electric. It turned out it was just the fan that was obviously a bit sticky after not being used for many months. I can’t remember how but I fired up the fan on full power for 30 seconds on the Truma control panel and everything was fine afterwards.
As I said, probably not your issue but worth trying!

Are you not getting a fault code which could point you in the right direction. I have had numerous problems in the past but having seen the insides of the truma boiler it is a serious piece of engineering.

I said at the start I'm a technology numpty, so I'm unlikely to delve too deeply into it. It is under warranty so it'll give Marquis an excuse to wriggle out of it if the forum wisdom can't help

I thought Marquis would like to wriggle. This is the response when I raised the query with them.
For us to diagnose the issue we would need to plug into our diagnostics machine and prove that it is a warranty issue in the first place, however we charge £120 per hour for this and method of payment is card, if it turns out to be a warranty issue we will liaise with claims people on your behalf to investigate further. I hope this helps.
