Hi all, totally new 2 sleeper vans, help pls!
Apart from driving ex's old Bedford van some 15 years ago, have never had a van. Am looking to buy something which will fit in normal double garage, use only for a few weekends a year, and have enough floorspace for v. large dog! & 2 adults. Don't want to use gas, must have electrics (can large battery be used for eg microwave, laptop?). Anyone got suggestions? all gratefully rec'd, cheers.

Only model that's likely to fit inside a normal garage due to door height would probably be an Auto Sleeper Mezan as seen here: http://motorhomes.autotrader.co.uk/used-motorhomes/auto-sleepers/mezan don't think this is going to give you the space you desire.

Thanks guys, and ASOF staff It might be OK, as I want something which is more like an ordinary vehicle to drive and take around - would help justify cost if used regularly as a second vehicle. The floor space could be an issue for the dog is the main thing, but certainly worth having a look at, cheers. Are they still in current production do you know ?

Welcome to the forum. It does of course depend on the garage height. I know a couple who kept a Clubman in their garage.
You could look at the Trooper (VW) which has a low roof line and space for a large dog but is limited in other aspects - depends what you want. You will need mains hook up for your microwave

Cheers (Stuart too) - will do. Sadly am about to move from old farmhouse with barn to place where there's only 1 outbuilding, ie garage with standard door height! Don't need too many frills tho (eg don't need shower or long clothes cupboard) as van only intended for occasional long weekends in UK, not for fortnight's hols.

I have a Rimini which has a pop up roof, but is an older model 1994. has everything I need but not the shower & toilet, we have a porta potty which is a god send, not the original which fitted in one of the cupboards, but still a god send. Not sure that the Rimini it would fit in a standard garage though as we park ours on the street. We used to have a VW high top, and what you loose with a cantilever top is storage space. To be fair I am not sure if any of the models would fit in a standard garage in fact for a short time I lived on a new estate, and although I could get the car in the garage you could not get out of the car as there was not enough space to open the doors once you were in the garage!!
Think my advice would either be measure the garage first, or park on the drive / road.
