Trying to source/repair interior light
Is anyone familiar with this make and model of interior light?
It's a Ramco 12v DC unit, catalogue no.Y825 in a black '15M4' plastic housing.
It's mounted on a vertical end panel near the floor just inside the habitation door. The whole light is like a rocker switch which I presume is in the 'off' position when it's flush with the housing and 'on' position when you press on either end. I suppose the idea is that you can reach in and switch it on before climbing in.
It has 3 electrical connections a +ive, a -ive and an AUX. There are wires to the +ive and -ive which gave 12v when I connect a voltmeter but it doesn't light up when switched on.
When I discovered that it had 12v going to it I naively thought that I could replace a bulb but no such luck. The whole unit looks as though it's not meant for repair.
I'll post a couple of photos.
Any ideasĀ

Normally with this style of rocker light, the lens can be removed to replace the bulb by levering the lens out at the pivot point. A slimmer version is still used by AS ..

Yes Paul. Now you mention it there are recesses part way along each long edge of the lens which act as levering points.
It was bit fiddly but I managed to get the lens off in one piece to inspect the bulb which looked OK. Which was just as well really because I couldn't get it out of its holder.
When I connected it back up, still in pieces, I poked about a bit and the light came on so I gave it all a good spray with some contact cleaner and, hey presto, its working.
All back together now and back in place. Thanks everyone.
