Interior light cover
Hi there
I have a 1999 Trident conversion o na VW T4. There are 2 interior lights on a curved section of the 'walls' above the windows. 1 of the covers has cracked and I would like to replace it. The parts department said they aren't made any more and suggested posting here in case any one has any little gems of information of a spare one!? Absolutely any help on finding one would be much appreciated.
Many thanks
Robin

Re: Interior light cover
The thread started back in 2018 and the poster was trying to post a photo which never materialised. Can you post one?
Instructions on how to post can be found in the factsheets section (home page about half way down).

Re: Interior light cover
As Paul says, it's best to post a photo because A/S changed the fittings quite regularly. However, there is a very good chance that what you have are Labcraft Trilites, which can be bought secondhand for not a lot of money on Ebay.mark dolphin wrote:hi, has anyone found out what make light covers are used as im looking for 2 for my 2000 trident??
I ~think~ Labcraft make an LED version now, though it's expensive in relative terms, and it's much cheaper to convert your own ones to LED yourself - something that's been covered here lots of times already.

Re: Interior light cover
Ah yes - that type is rare. Also made by Labcraft I think, but you will probably have to take it out to read the product code on the back to be sure.
The ones originally fitted in our Trooper are also a rare Labcraft type but single-tube where yours are doubles - again quite easy to convert to LED - provided the lens is Ok!
I'm sure I have seen your type on Ebay in the past, but only secondhand from breakers. A/S might be able to help, but they seem to be a bit overloaded at the moment.

Thanks Robert, I’ll keep an eye out on eBay.
To convert these to led I’ve found lamp replacement with existing fitting. Had you seen a whole new led unit??
Cheers

No, I've never seen a factory original LED version of the recessed type - i don't think LabCraft sold enough of that style of fitting to make it worthwhile for them
You can either fit the LED version of the tube, or you can take out the tubes and just fit your own LED panels/strips. The latter tends to be a bit cheaper, but more work involved.

There is a big caravan breakers in S Wales. I know folk who have found unbelievable stuff there. I don't know where it is but shouldn't be difficult to track down.

Re: Interior light cover
I purchased 3 LED tubes from a motorhome show many years ago @ 16 quid a pop, the price may have come down now. I fitted these in the two ceiling lights & the light above the couch/bed.
I find these more than sufficient, you only need one tube in each fitting, 2 would be far too bright.
