That's a pity as I'd love to donate again.Admin wrote:Have just checked the PayPal link & you seem to be correct in that it asks you to sign in or create an account, therefore it seems you do need an account to send money despite PayPal claiming otherwise.

Ed.
I swore not to ever touch PayPal again with a barge pole after previous bad experiences, although I'm tempted to open an account with one of my lesser used cards just to make a donation, since I have gained so much from this forum over many years.

Yes rather awkward you'd have to let Admin know the amount you wish to donate, he would then have to send you an invoice which you can then pay by debit/credit card but I guess Admin would need to be registered as a business then instead of simply a private account which would then mean PayPal would take a cut.

I came from another MH site where the forums were ruined by members being rude.Admin wrote:IanH wrote:I'd pay a hell of a lot more to never see another advert as long as I live Ed!!!!
Yes indeed Ian hence why we’ve never gone down this route
I joined here and was pleased to send the £20 that I saved as the other site is compulsory payment.
Since being on this site I have enjoyed the banter, also there is so much information why would you want to risk losing it
I would urge ALL MEMBERS to give £20,
David

If one is comfortable with less then by all means, and if the wealthy and benevolent ones amongst us want to give more then that's a yes, however, in fairness to the excellent work done by those behind the scenes, pay something.Tinwheeler wrote:Correction; surely give what you’re comfortable with is the way to go.
Light bulb moment, how about dividing the cost between the membership and asking if that would be acceptable.
A thought, £20 a year equates to just over 5 pence per day, if there is anyone who runs a Motorhome and cannot afford that then I'm a dutchman. (just looked and couldn't find an emoji of a dutchman, first one to find one pays my next years subs, £20.

Ed has made it quite clear that donations are purely voluntary and I feel any regimentation of that nature goes against the grain but each to their own.

Indeed correct, donations have always been voluntary & more recently the donations have been adequate to cover our costs. We don’t run the forum for profit so any help as we always say is entirely voluntary & gratefully received. We would never want members to feel obliged to donate to our costs. We have a number of donators who frequently donate & those of you who do this know who you are, sometimes I feel guilty when I see the regulars donating as frequently as they do. it’s not so much the amount you donate it’s more about knowing the forum is appreciated & supported that’s more important.
Thanks again everyone.

Re: Forum Donations & Running Costs
Donation sent from AJM. Just joined the forum the other day but I hope to glean a lot of knowledge here so happy to try to help keep your site going.
I've seen other forums that I've been a member of move to different formats (such as Discord) in the past to save on hosting costs and it's taken the soul away from them.

If you have donated then please send me a PM so I can verify your donation & update your status, even better when sending your donation please add your forum username to the notes section of your PayPal payment & I can then immediately identify who has sent the payment.
If you’ve made a donation & your status hasn’t been updated then please let me know.
Many Thanks For All Your Support.
