Forum Donations & Running Costs

Hi All

I have just renewed our yearly forum hosting & domain, in recent years our donations have declined considerably & we no longer have the generosity once showed by certain members that are no longer with us, which means I myself have to mainly meet these costs.

I thank those of you who have donated recently, but having said this, in order for the site to continue in its present form I need more assistance to help cover these costs in future. So if you can help, then all donations are gratefully appreciated.

Thanks for the reminder, happy to donate again but the link in your post seems to require signing up to Paypal, which I won't do (for reasons it's not appropriate to go into here).

I'm sure when I've made donations in the past this hasn't been necessary. I'm happy to make a direct transfer to a bank account, if you can let me have the necessary details - by private message if you prefer not to publish them here.

Thank you everyone that’s donated so far. I hate to have to ask but the reality is members are not as generous as they once were in the past. 

If others find the forum helpful and would like to contribute it’s greatly appreciated. Without these donations the alternative is to have sponsors or many adverts across the site which would be a last resort.

Ed - I am the same as Roger.  Had a bad experience with Paypal in the past and am not prepared to signup again.  If you are unable to turn guest payments on, please PM me with BACS details and I will happily contribute.

Further to my earlier post regarding not wishing to have to create a Paypal account, it seems that there is an option for the account requesting payment to be set to allow Guest Payments - should be something like "Select ON under PayPal Account Optional".

I'd guess this has been disabled at some stage on the forum donation account since I have definitely made donations before but I closed my Paypal account many, many years ago. 

I would love to continue to donate but will not be able to do so if it means creating a new Paypal account - maybe worth checking the Guest Pay setting as this doesn't currently appear on the page linked to for payments?

As far as I’m aware you don’t need an account with PayPal to send money to someone like you used to, unless it’s changed of course unbeknown to me? You could pay using a debit card or credit card via PayPal without having to create an account. 

Having just looked it appears you can send payments still without creating an account with PayPal here https://www.paypal.com/va/webapps/mpp/send-money-online

I have replied to the message you sent me, sadly PayPal is the only way we accept payments as it just simplifies things for us, it allows us to keep a history of payments all in one place and we use PayPal to pay our expenses like hosting and domain renewals so it just makes things easy for us.

I’ve sent a donation but used PayPal. Being a bear of little brain could not see how I could do otherwise. Keep up the good work. This group is by far the friendliest I’m in with no (well very few) ‘rows’.

I’ve tried both the PayPal app (which I use all the time) as well as logging in online via a browser, but can’t see anything like you describe sorry.

If you're not happy to do that, then maybe you could let me have your postal address - 
I'd be happier to trust sending cash* in the post rather than using Paypal.
