Engine Stop Start Battery
My van has a conventional starter, not a stop start facility. So I was surprised, after providing spec details of my van to a notable battery manufacture, when they recommended I replaced my old standard engine battery with a EFB stop start battery. The battery recommendation was: YBX7019 Yuasa EFB Start Stop. I know there are a number of advantages with having a stop start battery on a vehicle, but what are the disadvantages and dangers-if any, especially when your vehicle does not have a mechanical stop start system? Also, has anyone on the forum replaced their standard engine battery for a EFB stop start battery and if they have, what were the results?

Re: Engine Stop Start Battery
Say the company name as I want to do a test as to what it says please
Or did it give you a choice if you have got stop start as that is what I normally see
The stop start are a higher price and is not needid in your case
The 019 is ref more amps is a up grade as to what was fitted

Re: Engine Stop Start Battery
My understanding of stop-start batteries are they are often of the AGM type batteries that require a slightly higher voltage to charge than the typical flooded lead acid type. The mains charger in your vehicle is probably configured for a traditional battery.
I recently had to replace a dead battery on a deceased relative's car, the car had been idle for several months. It had the stop-start feature but when I went onto several websites to buy a replacement it seemed that they wanted to sell an inappropriate battery, and at a higher price. To my surprise I couldn't buy one from Halfords. The AA wanted my DOB, what, why for heavens sake? I got a good deal from Tayna on ebay, at least £50 cheaper that what it would have cost from the AA.

Re: Engine Stop Start Battery
I will be changing my vehicle battery to best I can, which will be AGM type, my van is not a stop start, the reason is so I can use the vehicle battery for leisure use when needed as a back up in winter months

Re: Engine Stop Start Battery
Thank you all for your response to the questions I asked regarding an engine battery. Much appreciated and sorry for the delay in replying. Was away at weekend and no access to internet. Thank you Peter for 'what I need' YBX5019. Excellent advice thank you. Glyn, in response to the question you asked. The company name is Tanya.
Although I'm not wanting a response from anyone, I thought I would add that I also purchased last week a habitation battery from Tanya. Not got round to fitting it yet. Its the Yuasa L36-EFB. Some 'oldies' on the forum will remember that this battery was highly recommended by aandncaravanservices some years ago. Incidentally it was also recommended as a habitation battery for my van by Tanya, more recently.
