Remis roof light
Drove to autosleeper centre in Willersey today from Devon to have a new winding mechanism fitted to to the Remis roof light . What a great experience very friendly staff and technician who did an excellent job. At a very reasonable price, unfortunately I was quoted 3 times there price by a large motorhome dealer in the West Country. It appears to me when you ring up the first question is did you purchase the motorhome from us . Answer no and they then say far to busy whoever we could do it at this very expensive price. 10 out of 10 to autosleeper

Auto-Sleepers £100 per hour plus VAT and I think the part was appropriate £90 but I am away for a few days so do not have the exact amount as for the dealer I will keep this information but try ringing around but as I have already stated Auto-Sleepers professional and I feel confident in there workmanship

Hi cuckoo thanks for that i will wait to see what local dealer says then maybe contact AS.
Just curios are you north or south Devon as i spend a lot of time around Newton Abbot with family. Kevin. Sorry forgot to ask did they have it in stock or was it ordered for you as most places are a long wait.

I replaced our winding mechanism after purchasing replacement from leisure shop direct and watching you tube videos. Fairly easy but needs a dry calm day.

Yes I have watched the how to video but if you mess it up fitting it it’s an expensive mistake. Kevin

Re: Remis roof light
I also purchased a mechanism from Leisure Shop Direct when our mechanism failed back in 2018. Not a totally simple job but fairly straightforward. Mine was delivered with comprehensive instructions on paper, plus there is YouTube to watch as mentioned above.
For me the advantage of being able to do it in my own time on the drive, and not having to take a day or two to visit AS was probably just as valuable as the significant cash saved.

Re: Remis roof light
Might not help here.
Make sure the cables have not just "come unclipped", dealer speak.
Symptoms are handle does nothing.
Sorry can't help technically but assume cables are loose and not under tension etc too lift skylight.

Re: Remis roof light
The large Remis in the lounge area is a 700x500 Vario 2. The smaller Remis vent in the kitchen area is a 400x400 Vista.Andyhardie wrote:Hi

The size specified for a roof vent is the size of the aperture in the roof to accommodate it. It’s only possible to measure this aperture once the internal frame or bezel has been removed to expose the cut-out in the roof.

I don't remember measuring exactly... but as I recall there are just 2 or 3 sizes, very different so there was no doubt which one was needed.
The other posts look more helpful... but if you are still unsure post again and I will measure the size of the dome and look up the size I ordered which should put you on the right track.
It will help to be in a patient mood when you start ;-)
