Help with stain Empty Help with stain

Post by Sapper Fri Jul 28, 2023 3:59 pm

Hi, Very stupidly I managed to spill cooking fluid on the base cushion of our 2020 WX.. I say cooking fluid it was in fact used cabbage water. I tried upholstery cleaner when we got back home but it had no effect at all so just wondered if anyone has suffered the same thing and managed to remove dried stains.

I did contact AS and they put me on to the people who supply the cushions and they told me although there's a zip on cover they're not designed to come off because they are also stitched on. all they could offer in terms of help was to just try washing it off with soapy water. I haven't tried this yet I thought I would ask on here but bearing in mind the stain probably covers about half of cushion.

Thanks for any help and maybe cheer the old dutch up and who knows she may start talking to me again.

Prosan pure alcohol spray … has always given me excellent results without harming the fabric.

Red or green cabbage?  Plenty of suggestions for red cabbage stains on Google but none for green that I can find.

If it was Premier Furnishings you spoke to I'm surprised they didn't offer to sell you their recommended stain remover. We bought a can of it from them for about £9. No idea how effective it is as we haven't used it yet - hope I haven't jinxed our upholstery by saying that!

Can't send you a picture of it as it's in the van which is currently away receiving its Dinitrol rust-proofing treatment.

We had a blood stain on some of our bench cushions, this was successfully removed with mattress stain remover. Until we found this product we tried everything and I can confirm soapy water did not negatively affect the fabric. We scrubbed them and then wet vacuumed the them dry and then used a hair drier so they didn’t sit wet. The stuff the furnishings company sell is a really powerful degreaser that evaporates after use.

Try a handheld steam cleaner. One of these cleared old rusty water stains on our van.
