12 volt
Hi all, we have just had 11 day's away and on a couple of occasions while we were out the 12 volt side turned itself off. As we were on hook up it wasn't a problem but wondered if any one else had had this problem. We also had a problem with the down pipe from the sink waste coming loose and flooding the cupboard under the sink has anyone else had this problem. Last but not least there is something come loose between the side and outside off the van panel above the fridge what ever it is it got worse the longer we drove today any idea's please. Kevin

Re: 12 volt
Kitchen sink down pipe is a known problem and loads of information about it not being pushed together correctly and pipes to short , take the fridge vent of and see if there is anything obvious that has come loose

Good morning. Didn’t know about the waiste pipe problem is there a good fix for it. and yes have had the fridge vents out but it is above them. I don’t think there can be much in that void between the outside skin of the van and the inner wall board though, only cabling I would have thought.

I had the problem of 12v turning g of at Sargent control panel, seemed to happen when on ehu and in full sun, came to conclusion it was a problem with solar controller, replaced by dealer and hasn't happened again since

You can buy a new piece of pipe or use a pipe glue, I removed and used black duct tape
Are you sure the noise is not from the microwave or sliding door blind

Re: 12 volt
I found my hob suddenly developed a rattle, all four screws in the pan support feet were loose, tightening cured that. Rattles often appear to come from one place but actually come from somewhere else. The rough surfaces of our roads are creating new rattles every day.

No it’s below the microwave my first thought was the sliding door blinds but it is definitely in the panel it seems to be when moving the worktop and side panels bang against each other. It is very strange but got definitely worse the longer we traveled yesterday. That could be right with 12 volt the only thing is when it did it on Sunday it was a very dull day so not much solar going on. Very strange. Kevin

Re: 12 volt
The issue with the Sargent controller shutdown is certainly a known one on older installations (e.g. I experienced it with an EC328 and its factory-supplied solar controller). The problem seemed to happen during fast-changing solar inputs (e.g. sun suddenly comes out from behind heavy clouds).
But I'm a bit surprised that you have it on a 2015 van. What Sargent controller do you have?

It will be a 480 controll panel and a EC500 Main electric set up.
Can not think of anything coming loose in that area , there is only the electric cable for the microwave and the electrics for the sockets be hind the panel and there is not much give in them to slap about and make a noise, I have just travelled for a 2 hours with a terrible rattle until I pulled over and took the plate and holder out of the microwave, pure silence after

Good idea but our microwave plate is in a cardboard box it came in. Had the fridge vents off and the row of sockets above the fridge this morning but nothing in there that i can see. Kevin

Forgot to say if you put your hand on the side between fridge top and under microwave you can feel something rattling. Kevin

Re: 12 volt
I’m not saying go out and buy one as I’m sure you will find the rattle soon but I bought this cheap and cheerful unit 2 years ago (it was less than £30 back then!) and it has been fantastic in many situations at home and in the van.
Picture quality not brilliant but it’s good enough.

Edit… I see it’s £26 on Amazon

Thanks for that but it is going back to dealer where we bought it at the beginning of August with an ever growing list for them to look at and sort out. Kevin

Re: 12 volt
Hi Kevjan. We had this problem a few weeks ago, turned out to be one of the push on connectors under the fuse panel behind the drivers seat. I ended up replacing all the push on connector blocks with new spade connectors. No problems since.
